Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Elche play host to Mallorca at their Estadio Manuel Martinez Valero on day 8 of the new La Liga campaign. Los Franjiverdes do not seem to be competitive at this level, with the team collecting only one point in total to date, and given their difficulties in front of goal, home win should not be considered. All Fidel, Pedro Bigas, and Omar Mascarell are sidelined with injuries for the home side.
Los Bermellones, on the other hand, suffered a 1-0 loss to Barcelona at the weekend, but their display was anything but poor. Mallorca aim to regain their spot in top ten, and we predict that they will take advantage of the current situation in Elche’s dressing room. Despite failing to find the net in the loss to Barca, Vedat Muriqi will surely pose a big threat to the opposition back-line. Both Jaume Costa and Tino Kadewere continue to miss out with injuries for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Enzo Roco):
Enzo Roco is one of the young and exciting defenders coming out of Chile in the recent times. The 23-year-old started in the youth teams at Universidad Catolica and moved up the ranks. He was promoted to their first team in 2011 and in three years with them played more than 90 matches.
He established himself in the first team and was an omnipresent figure at the back for the team that won Primera Division and Copa Chile titles. Roco moved to the Spanish club Elche on loan in 2014 and by the next year he was at their fellow Spanish club RCD Espanyol.
Roco’s international appearance started with the under-17 squad in 2009 while his senior international debut was in 2012. He was named in the 30-man list by Jorge Sampaoli for the 2014 FIFA World Cup but was cut from the final list.
Highlighted Team (Mallorca):
Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
