Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Girona play host to Leganes at their Estadio Municipal de Montilivi on day 12 of the new La Liga campaign. The Catalans are eyeing their third home win of the process, but bear in mind that they head into Saturday’s clash with a severely-weakened squad. Goalkeeper Juan Carlos is banned for the match following his sending-off in a 1-0 loss to Las Palmas, while defender Alejandro Frances has joined the likes of Viktor Tsygankov, Oriol Romeu, Abel Ruiz, and Portu in the recovery room.
The capital club, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 3-0 win over Celta Vigo and given the number of absentees in the home team, we predict that the visitors are going to grab something from this match. In their last encounter in the Spanish top flight the two sides played out a 1-1 draw, which goes in favour of our earlier prediction. There are no fresh injury worries in the away team ahead of the trip to Catalonia.
Highlighted Player (Christian Stuani):
Cristhian Stuani is considered one of the best Uruguay attackers. Stuani was born on 12 October, 1986 and he began his senior career at Danubio. He impressed with the Uruguayan outfit, scoring 23 goals in 36 appearances for the club and, as a result, he became a target for a number of top European clubs.
In 2008 he signed a contract with Reggina, but he failed to impress in 17 appearances for the Italian team. After spending the 2012/2013 season on loan at Espanyol, Christian Stuani signed a permanent deal with the Catalan side in 2013. Stuani scored 12 goals in 37 league appearances for Espanyol in the 2014/2015 Primera Division campaign, but at the end of the season he moved to Middlesbrough for a reported €3 million fee.
The 186-cm-tall striker made his Uruguay debut on 14 November, 2012 in a friendly win over Poland. Stuani also represented la Celeste at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil.
Highlighted Team (Leganes):
Leganes are a Spanish football club that have mostly been playing in lower leagues. Los Pepineros play their home games at Batarque (Madrid) and the capacity of the stadium is just 8,138. Leganes secured their promotion to the Spanish La Liga for the first time ever in 2016 and, no doubt, that is considered the club’s biggest success.
Leganes’ bitterest rivals are fellow capital club Getafe and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other in the South Madrid derby.
The colour of the team’s home kit is white and blue, whilst their away kits are green. The likes of Pierre Webo, Samuel Eto’o, Ivan Zarandona, Jose Chamot, Catanha, Ruben Falcon, Jordi Lardin and Pedro Lago are famous players who were part of the Batarque outfit in the past. Lady Maria Victoria Pavon is the first female president in the history of the club and she has been in charge of the club since 2009.
