Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Estadi Mallorca Son Moix will host a La Liga game between Mallorca and Barcelona. Los Bermellones aim to build on back-to-back wins over Las Palmas and Valencia and a win over Barca could even see them climb to the Champions League berth. Both Morey Bauza and Navarro limped off with injuries in the last league match, with duo Sanchez – Maffeo being ready to step up. The good news for the hosts is that key attacker Vedat Muriqi is back from suspension.
Barca, on the other hand, suffered an embarrassing 2-1 loss to Las Palmas on Matchday 15. As a result, fit-again superstar Lamine Yamal should be recalled to the starting XI, with Dani Olmo pushing for a start as well. The likes of Bernal, Christensen, and ter Stegen remain in the treatment room, whilst left-back Alejandro Balde is unlikely to be risked after suffering a horrible injury in the last league match. Anyhow, the share of spoils is on the cards as Mallorca are tough to beat at home and Barca no where near their best form.
Highlighted Player (Robert Lewandowski):
After scoring 36 goals in 59 league games for Znicz Pruskow, Robert Lewandowski joined Lech Poznan in June, 2008. The 184-cm-tall attacker scored 18 goals in 28 appearances for the club in the 2009/2010 Ekstraklasa campaign and during the season he was on Borussia Dortmund’s radar.
The Polish forward signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga side in June, 2010 and he quickly established himself as the team’s key attacker. Lewandowski was producing excellent performances with the Millionaires between 2010 and 2014 and it has to be noted that he won two Bundesliga trophies with the club (2010/2011, 2011/2012). He participated in the 2012/2013 Champions League final with Borussia Dortmund, but the Millionaires were beaten by fellow Bundesliga side Bayern Munich in the title game.
However, he betrayed Borussia Dortmund fans in 2014 as he signed a four-year deal with the Bundesliga giants. Lewandowski impressed in the 2016/2017 Bundesliga campaign as he scored 30 goals in 32 league games for Pep Guardiola’s troops. The Polish footballer represented his homeland at Euro 2016 in France and he scored one goal at the showpiece tournament in France.
Highlighted Team (Mallorca):
Thanks to a win over Deportivo La Coruna in the 2018/2019 Segunda Division play-offs final Mallorca secured promotion to Primera Division. Los Bermellones returned to the Spanish top flight following a six-year absence. Over the years Mallorca have turned their Estadi de son Moix into a real fortress, with the team producing much better showings at home than on the travels.
Opened in June 1999, the venue can hold up to 23,142 people. The club based in Balearic Islands are well known for their red shirts with one black stripe and black shorts. Mallorca’s away colours are white and red. Former Barcelona and Inter ace Samuel Eto’o is undisputedly the most notable footballer who played for the club.
Back in 1999 Mallorca made it to the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup final, with the team suffering a 2-1 loss to Lazio in the title game. Four years later los Bermellones won Spanish Copa del Rey, which is considered the club’s biggest success.
