Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Sevilla play host to Espanyol at their Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the La Liga round 33. Los Sevillanos have been showing signs of improvement of late and it is no wonder the bookies see them as favourites to beat the Catalan outfit in front of home fans. All Jordan, Marcao, and Nianzou should miss out with injuries for the home side. Los Periquitos, meanwhile, desperately needed a win against Getafe and they managed to get one thanks to Joselu’s goal from the penalty spot.
Espanyol, though, are not considered good travellers, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on Jose Luis Mendilibar’s troops. There are no fresh injury worries in the visiting team ahead of the trip to Seville. When the two teams met in Barcelona earlier this term Sevilla defeated Espanyol 3-2 and we predict that history is going to repeat itself.
Highlighted Player (Marcos Acuña):
Marcos Acuna is an Argentina international who plays for Sporting Club de Portugal as a winger. Born in Zapala, Argentina on October 28, 1991, Acuna started his senior career at Ferro Carril Oeste. After scoring 5 goals in 117 appearances for the Argentine club from 2010 to 2014, he moved to Racing Club in the summer of 2014.
The 172-cm-tall footballer looked sharper in front of goal during his spell with la Academia, scoring 16 goals in 78 appearances for the club. In June 2017 Marcos Acuna decided to take a step forward in his career, joining Portuguese outfit Sporting CP. He made his debut with the Lions in a 2-0 win over Deportivo Aves on August 6, 2017.
Acuna plays for the Argentine national team as well, making his debut for la Albiceleste on November 15, 2016 in a World Cup qualifier against Colombia. His main position is left-back, but he is used as both left midfielder and left winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Espanyol):
Espanyol are a Catalan club that plays in Spanish La Liga. Espanyol were founded in 1900 and their original name was Sociedad Espanola de Football. In 1901 the Catalan club changed its name to Club Espanol de Futbol. Los Periquitos used to play in bright yellow shirts in the past, but current colour of the team’s home kit is blue and white.
Espanyol’s fiercest rivals are Barcelona and the two teams face each other in the Catalan derby (Derbi barceloni). Espanyol have always been in Barca’s shadow, but it has to be noted that los Periquitos have won four Copa del Rey (Spanish Cup trophies).
The likes of Raul Tamudo, Jose Maria, Antonio Argiles and Mauricio Pochettino are players with most appearances for the Catalan outfit. Espanyol play their home games at Estadio Cornella-El Prat and the capacity of the stadium is 40,500. Los Periquitos have never participated in the Champions League.
