Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
All eyes will be on Estadio Mendizorrotza when Deportivo Alaves and Leganes go head to head in the La Liga 2 round 37. The Basques are eager to move closer to the automatic promotion berth, and they are likely to adopt an attack-minded approach in Sunday’s encounter. Midfielder Salva Sevilla is sidelined through suspension, while defender Nikola Maras should miss out with a meniscus injury.
The capital club, on the other hand, aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Villarreal B. Leganes, though, are not regarded as good travellers, which is probably the main reason why we are going to bet on the home side. Juan Munoz misses out with a knee injury, while there are no suspended players in the visiting team. In the first half of the season Alaves defeated Leganes 2-1, which is yet another reason why home win should be considered.
Highlighted Player (Allan Nyom):
After playing amateur football in his homeland France, Allan Nyom began his professional career at Arles-Avignon. The pacey full back made 37 appearances for the club in the 2008/2009 season and at the end of the campaign he signed a deal with Serie A side Udinese. However, given the great collaboration between Udinese and Granada, he was immediately sent on loan to the Estadio Nuevo los Carmenes outfit.
Granada finished the 2009/2010 season in top position in the Segunda Division and, as a result, they secured automatic promotion to the Spanish top flight. Allan Nyom established himself as a first-team regular and it has to be noted that he made 32 appearances for los Granadinos in the 2011/2012 La Liga campaign. After spending five seasons at Granada, Nyom joined Watford in 2015 and he moved to fellow Premier League side WBA at the end of the season.
The WBA defender represents Cameroon on the international stage and he made his debut for Les Lions Indomptables on November 11, 2011.
Highlighted Team (Alaves):
Alaves is a Spanish football club located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava. The club were founded in 1921 and they play their home games at Estadio Mendizorrotza. The capacity of the stadium is 19,840 and it has to be noted that it is the third oldest stadium in Spanish football. After spending several years in the Spanish Segunda Division, los Babazorros returned to the top flight in 2016.
The color of Alaves’ home kit is blue and white and the club’s local rivals are fellow Basque sides Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Osasuna and Eibar. Alaves made it to the UEFA CUP final in 2001, but they were beaten by Liverpool 5-4 in a thrilling football clash. Anyhow, that is still regarded as the club’s biggest success. Los Babazorros booked their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on four occasions and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy.
