Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
After holding Sporting Gijon to a goalless draw, Alcorcon will be looking to return to winning ways in La Liga 2 when they take on Real Oviedo at Estadio Municipal de Santo Domingo. Los Alfareros have been struggling in front of goal of late, with the team failing to score in the previous three league fixtures, meaning that a low-scoring game is on the cards. You should bear in mind that Alcorcon are eyeing their seventh home win of the season.
Oviedo, on the other hand, head into the midweek fixture following a 1-1 draw with Ponferradina. Since under 2.5 goals have been netted in four of Oviedo’s previous five league matches, we are unlikely to see goals galore at Estadio Municipal. Both Arribas and Nahuel are rated doubtful for the visiting team, and the duo will be assessed ahead of the kick-off.
Highlighted Player (Richard Boateng):
Born in Accra, Ghana on July 10, 1992, Richard Boateng is a midfielder who plays for Alcorcon in Segunda Division. Boateng is a product of Liberty Babies football academy, with the Ghanaian starting his senior career at Liberty Professionals. In 2010 he moved to Spain, signing a deal with Granada.
During his spell with the Andalusian outfit, he mainly played for Granada B, but he spent a couple of years at loan at Cadiz B and San Roque as well. Richard Boateng made only one appearance for the Granada senior team in the league.
The Ghana international played for the likes of Aris Limassol, Extremadura, Melilla, and Oviedo as well before joining Alcorcon in 2019. His primary position is central midfielder, but he is used as an attacking midfielder as well. His preferred foot is right, and his contract with Alcorcon should expire in June 2021.
Highlighted Team (Oviedo):
Based in Oviedo, Asturias, Real Oviedo is a Spanish club that plays home games at Carlos Tartiere. Carlos Tartiere is one of the biggest stadiums in Segunda division as it can hold up to 30,500 spectators. Los Azules competed in La Liga in the 1990s, but in the 2001/02 campaign they suffered relegation to Segunda Division.
Real Oviedo have not competed in the Spanish top flight ever since. In the 1991/92 season los Azules represented Spain in the UEFA Cup, but Genoa proved to be a big catch for them in the round of 64. Real Oviedo have a rivalry with Sporting Gijon, with the two teams facing each other in the Asturian derby.
The likes of Robert Prosinecki, Stan Collymore, Dely Valdes, Abel Xavier, Paulo Bento, Marius Lacatus, Viktor Onopko, Ratomir Dujkovic, Juan Mata, Michu, Ibrahima Balde, and Slavisa Jokanovic are the famoust footballers who were part of Oviedo in the past. Carlos Munoz Cobo is leading the club’s all-time goal-scoring chart.
