Las Palmas
Malaga and Las Palmas square off against each other at Estadio La Rosaleda in the closing match of La Liga day 2. Los Boquerones were not at their sharpest in a 1-0 loss to Burgos, but it is well known that they produce much better displays at home than on the travels. Summer signing Alex Gallar is pushing for his first Malaga start, while Pablo Chavarria should miss out with a muscle problem.
La Union Deportiva, on the other hand, failed to break the deadlock in a goalless draw with Zaragoza despite dominating the match. Las Palmas are not regarded as good travellers, but given Malaga’s anything but good display in the season opener, we are tempted to put our money on draw this time out. Both Machin Perez and Kirian Rodriguez are out of contention with injuries for the visiting side.
Highlighted Player (David Lomban):
David Lomban was born in Aviles, Asturias on 5 June, 1987 and he began his senior career at Valencia. The 185-cm-tall defender played 37 matches for Valencia B and he made no more than three appearances for the first team. After spending the 2009/2010 season on loan at Salamanca, he joined Xerez in 2010 and two years later he signed for Barcelona B.
David Lomban played just one season for the Catalan outfit in Segunda Division and then he decided to take a bigger step towards a brighter future as he joined La Liga side Elche. After making 62 appearances for the club, he signed a three-year contract with Granada on 10 August, 2015. Lomban played 31 games for los Granadinos in the 2015/2016 La Liga campaign, but he failed to find the net for the Andalusian outfit in the top flight.
David Lomban’s contract with Granada expires on 30 June, 2018. Speaking of his international career, the Granada defender has 11 caps for Spain U17 and he played one match for Spain U20 team as well.

Las Palmas are a Spanish football club based in the Canary Islands. The club was founded on 22 August, 1949. Los Amarillos play in Spanish La Liga and the team’s home ground is Estadio Gran Canaria. The stadium was opened in 2003 and it’s current capacity is 32,150. Miguel Angel Ramirez is the club’s chairman and the club’s main rivals are Tenerife.
Las Palmas impressed in the 2015/2016 La liga campaign, with the team finishing the season in 11th place in the standings. However, it has to be noted that los Amarillos finished the 1968/1969 Primera Division campaign in second place in the table, 11 points behind Spanish giants Real Madrid.
Speaking of Copa del Rey, Las Palmas made it to the final of the Spanish Cup in 1978. Las Palmas eliminated Sporting Gijon in the semis (5-3), but Barcelona outplayed los Amarillos in the title game (3-1).
