Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Monday’s football game between Tenerife and Girona will bring down the curtain on day 15 of the new Segunda Division campaign. Los Insulares rolled over Burgos 4-0 in their last home game, but they played out a slim goalless draw with Ibiza on Thursday evening. Tenerife are eager to stay in the playoffs berth, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the home team. Experienced winger Elady is widely expected to return to the starting XI after he was rested in the draw with Ibiza.
The Catalans, on the other hand, came from behind to beat Alcorcon thanks to Stuani’s hat-trick. The Uruguay veteran is pushing for a start, and, no doubt, the opposition back-line should have him at bay. Anyhow, a close encounter is on the cards at Estadio Heliodoro Rodriguez Lopez as Tenerife are tough to beat at home.
Highlighted Player (Adrian Ortola):
Adrian Ortola is a Spanish goalkeeper who plays for Segunda Division side Tenerife. Born in Xabia, Spain on August 20, 1993, Ortola spent his youth career at the likes of Javea and Alicante before moving to Villarreal in 2008.
The 185-cm tall shot-stopper did not see any game action with the senior team, but he has 43 appearances in total for Villarreal B and Villarreal C. In 2013 he moved to Barcelona, being assigned to the reserve team. He played for Alaves and Deportivo La Coruna on loan as well before signing a two-year deal with Tenerife in the summer of 2019.
Adrian Ortola made his Tenerife debut in a 2-0 loss to Zaragoza on August 17, 2019, and he kept his first clean sheet with los Insulares in a goalless draw with Las Palmas the following month. Speaking of his international career, the goalkeeper has four caps with Spain U20 team.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
The Catalan team wear white shirts with red stripes when playing at home, while the colour of their shorts is blue. The team’s away kits are blue and black and Sporting Gijon are considered one of Girona’s fiercest rivals.
