Our prediction for this Segunda Division match:
Zaragoza will be aiming to put an end to their three-game winless run when they take on rock-bottom Alcorcon on Matchday 39. The 2021/2022 season has been a mixed bag for los Blanquillos, who sit in 14th place in the standings ahead of Sunday’s clash, and, no doubt, they want to give fans some cheer in the remainder of the process. Both Nano Mesa and Ivan Azon are major doubts, while Jaume Grau remains on the sidelines with injury.
Los Alfareros, on the other hand, failed to secure the Segunda Division survival. The rock-bottom side are low on spirits following three consecutive defeats, and we do not believe that they are capable of grabbing something from the match. To make things even worse for the visiting team, defender Victor Garcia limped off with injury in a 1-0 loss to Girona. All Apeh, Fraile, and Moyano are pushing for a start.
Highlighted Player (Alvaro Gimenez):
Alvaro Gimenez is a product of Elche football school who plays for fellow La Liga side Cadiz as a forward. Alvaro played for several Spanish clubs in the past, including Elche, Valencia B, Torrellano, Mallorca, Alcorcon, Almeria, before joining Birmingham City in the 2019/20 season.
After scoring only three goals in 24 appearances for the Blues in the Championship, Alvaro Gimenez returned to Spain at the end of the season, signing a deal with La Liga newcomers Cadiz. The Spanish attacker made his debut with the “Yellow Submarine” on October 4, 2020 in a 1-1 draw with Granada. His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well.
Gimenez’s preferred foot is left, and his contract with Cadiz should expire on June 30, 2023. The Cadiz attacker has three caps with the Spain U17 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team.
Highlighted Team (Alcorcon):
Founded on July 20, 1971, Alcorcon have been competing in Segunda Division since the 2010/11 season. Los Alfareros welcome their rivals at Santo Domingo, the stadium opened in 1999. The venue has the capacity of 5,100 people. Alcorcon have made it to the Segunda Division playoffs on several occasions, but they have never participated in La Liga.
The club’s biggest success in Copa del rey came in the 2009/10 season when they made it to the last 16 of the prestigious competition. Alcorcon suffered a 3-2 (on agg.) loss to Racing Santander in the round of 16. The club’s home colour is yellow, while their away kit is mainly blue.
Los Alfareros played their first official game on September 8, 1971, with the team losing 2-0 to Atletico Madrid youth team. The likes of Cordoba and Leganes are regarded as the club’s main rivals, while David Rodriguez is the club’s all-time top goalscorer.
