Our prediction for this Serie B match:
Buoyed by a 2-0 win over Spal, Brescia will look to retain their spot in automatic promotion berth when they host Cittadella to their Stadio Mario Rigamonti on Sunday afternoon. Brescia have been struggling in front of home fans of late, but the bookies still see them as favourites to pick up all three points from the match. Torn van de Looi serves a one-game ban, while both Jakub Labojko and Emanuele Ndoj are rated doubtful for the game.
La Citta, on the other hand, suffered elimination in the Coppa Italia on Wednesday, and, as a result, they will be fully focused on the Serie B in the remainder of the season. The visitors defeated both Alessandria and Ascoli in the previous two league fixtures, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Sunday’s football match. All Orji Okwonkwo, Vincenzo Ciriello, and Simone Icardi are injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Mario Balotelli):
Mario Balotelli is a controversial footballer who played for both Inter and Milan in the past. The Italian attacker, who was born on 12 August, 1990, started his senior career at Lumezzane and in 2007 he signed a contract with the Nerazzurri.
After scoring 20 goals in 59 league appearances with Inter, he moved to Manchester City in 2010. Super Mario spent three seasons at the Etihad Stadium and he returned to Serie A in 2013, signing a deal with Inter’s fiercest rivals Milan this time out. Balotelli scored 26 goals in 43 league games with the Rossoneri, but in the summer of 2014 he signed for Liverpool for a fee of £16 million.
The Italian attacker is well known for his powerful shoot, but he often struggles to control his volatile temper. Super Mario impressed at the 2012 European Championship finals and he helped Italy make it to the final of the tournament. However, Spain proved to be a big catch for the Azzurri in the title game.
Highlighted Team (Brescia):
Hosting their rivals at Stadio Mario Rigamonti, the stadium with the capacity of 16,743, Brescia are Italian team founded back in 1911 under the name of Brescia Football Club. Le Rondinelle are well known for their blue and white shirts, but white is dominant colour in their away kit.
Atalanta are considered one of the club’s fiercest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the Derby of Lombardy. The Stadio Mario Rigamonti outfit have rivalries with the likes of Inter, Hellas Verona and Cremonese as well. Roberto Baggio, who has 56 caps with the Italy national football team, is considered the most famous footballer who played for Brescia.
Robi scored 45 goals in 95 appearances in the Serie A for le Rondinelle. It has to be noted that the likes of Andrea Pirlo, Gheorge Hagi, Pep Guardiola, Luca Toni, Luigi Di Biagio and Dario Hubner were part of Brescia in the past as well. However, Mario Rigamonti is the club’s biggest legend as he died in the Superga air disaster back in 1949.
