Our prediction for this Serie A match:
All eyes will be on Stadio Olimpico when Roma and Olimpico go head to head in the Derby della Capitale on Sunday evening. The Giallorossi aim to build on a 3-1 win over Verona in the “City of Love”, and the bookies see them as favourites to win the local derby. Both Zaniolo and Mancini are back from the Europa League bans, while all Darboe, Dybala, Spinazzola, and Wijnaldum continue to miss out through injuries.
The Biancocelesti, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-1 loss to Salernitana, and seeing that key attacker Ciro Immobile remains in the recovery room, we believe that there is a big value in betting on Jose Mourinho’s troops. Influential midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic returns to the starting XI, but all Bertini, Fares, and Patric are out of contention with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Nemanja Matic):
Nemanja Matic is a Serbian footballer who plays for Premier League side Chelsea. The 194-cm-tall midfielder was born on 1 August, 1988 and he began his football career (youth) at Radnicki Obrenovac.
In 2005 he signed for Kolubara and after impressing with Kosice in the 2008/2009 campaign, Chelsea owners decided to sign him. Nemanja spent the 2010/2011 season on loan at Vitesse and at the end of the season he signed a deal with Portuguese giants Benfica, with David Luiz heading in the other direction.
Matic was in the form of his life in the 2013/2014 Primeira Liga campaign and he helped the Eagles clinch the domestic trophy. He rejoined Chelsea in 2014 for a fee of €25M and he helped the Blues win the Premier League title in the 2014/2015 season. Nemanja Matic has also developed into a key member of the Serbian national team that have been largely struggling of late.
Highlighted Team (Lazio):
Lazio Roma are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles.
The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals.
The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco.
The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
