Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Following four consecutive draws in the Serie A, Juventus will be aiming to return to winning ways when they host Salernitana to their Allianz Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Juve are determined to secure a top-three finish, but they will have to prove their worth on the field. Serbia winger Filip Kostic is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while midfielder Kenan Yildriz is a major doubt (illness). As always, Kostic’s compatriot Dusan Vlahovic will lead the line for the hosts.
I Granata, on the other hand, are on a four-game losing run in the national championship. As the rock-bottom side failed to secure the Serie A survival, anything but a routine home win would be a big surprise. When the two teams met in Turin in the Coppa Italia earlier this year Juventus hammered Salernitana 6-1. The likes of Iron Gomis, Guillermo Ochoa, Giulio Maggiore, and Grigoris Kastanos are sidelined with injuries, while both Norbert Gyomber ana Jerome Boateng are major doubts.
Highlighted Player (Weston McKennie):
After starting his youth career at FC Dallas, Weston McKennie moved to Germany in the summer of 2016, signing a contract with Bundesliga side Schalke 04. The American footballer made his Bundesliga debut on May 20, 2017, coming as a substitute in the 77th minute of the match.
The talented midfielder scored his first goal in the German elite division on August 6, 2018 in a 2-0 win at Fortuna Dusseldorf. Speaking of his international career, the Schalke footballer made his debut with United States of America on November 14, 2017 in a friendly against Portugal, finding the net on his debut.
Weston McKennie has two caps for the USA U20 team as well. His main position is central midfield, but he used as both defensive and attacking midfielder as well. The USA international was born in Fort Lewis, Washington on August 28, 1998. His preferred foot is right.
Highlighted Team (Juventus):
Juventus are considered one of the greatest European football clubs. The Bianconeri (The White and Blacks) have won two Champions League trophies (1985, 1996) and they did well to clinch three UEFA Cup titles (1977, 1990, 1993). The Italian giants have won 32 Serie A trophies and it is well known that a number of star players were part of Juve in the past.
The likes of Alessandro Del Piero, Zinedine Zidane, Michel Platini, Lilian Thuram, Filippo Inzaghi, Pavel Nedved and David Trezeguet all played for Juventus, whilst legendary goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon has yet to retire. Juve were stripped two domestic trophies during the “Calciopoli” scandal, but despite being relegated to Serie B, the club quickly brought glory days back to Turin. The Bianconeri used to play their home games at Stadio delle Alpi, but nowadays they welcome their rivals at Juventus Stadium.
The capacity of the stadium is 41,475. La Vechhia Signora (The Old Lady) is yet another nickname of the club. Juve’s biggest rivals are Torino and the two local rivals take on each other in the Turin derby.
