Our prediction for this Serie A match:
All eyes will be on Stadio Olimpico when Lazio and Atalanta lock horns in a highly-anticipated Serie A derby. Lazio are eager to stay in the Champions League berth and they must be high on confidence following a 2-1 win over Lecce. Adam Marusic is pushing for a start after scoring a late winner at Stadio Via del Mare, while Uruguay midfielder Matias Vecino remains on the sidelines with a thigh injury.
The Orobici, on the other hand, are eager to retain top position in the standings. Atalanta look unstoppable following eleven consecutive league wins, but beating Lazio in Rome is easier said than done. A close encounter is on the cards in “The Eternal City” and we believe that there is a big value in betting on draw. The good news for the visiting team is that midfielder Marten de Roon is back from suspension, while the likes of Giorgio Scalvini, Gianluca Scamacca, and El Bilal Toure remain in the treatment room.
Highlighted Player (Marten de Roon):
After spending his youth career in ASWH, Feyenoord and Sparta Rotterdam, Marten de Roon made his senior debut on 27 March 2010. The midfielder played for Sparta against Twente back then, but he made no more than three appearances for de Kasteelheren in the 2009/2010 season.
Marten de Roon joined Heerenveen in 2012 and in 2015 he moved to Serie A side Atalanta. He made 36 appearances for Atalanta in the 2015/2016 Serie A campaign, but on 4 July, 2016, he signed a contract with Middlesbrough for a reported fee of £12m. The Dutch footballer scored one goal in three appearances for Netherlands U19 team.
Marten de Roon was born in Zwinjndrecht, Netherlands on 29 March, 1991. His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as a defensive and attacking midfielder as well. Martin de Roon is a right-footed footballer and he is 185 cm tall.
Highlighted Team (Lazio):
Lazio Roma are an Italian football club based in Rome. Lazio were founded in 1900 and they compete in the Serie A. The Biancocelesti (The White and Sky Blues) have won two Serie A trophies (1973/1974, 1999/2000), while lifting six Coppa Italia titles.
The capital club play their home games at Stadio Olimpico and Roma are regarded as Lazio’s main rivals.
The two teams face each other in the Derby della Capitale and it is considered the fiercest inter-city derby in Italy. Lazio won UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup in 1999, with the team beating Mallorca in the title game. The same year they managed to clinch the UEFA Super Cup trophy as they outplayed English giants Manchester United at Stade Louis II, Monaco.
The likes of Pavel Nedved, Giuseppe Favalli, Juan Sebastian Veron, Sinisa Mihajlovic, Roberto Mancini, Giuseppe Signori, Miroslav Klose and Simone Inzaghi are notable footballers who played for Lazio in the past.
