Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Napoli play host to Cagliari at their Stadio Diego Armando Maradona in the Serie A round 6. The Neapolitans aim to build on thrilling back-to-back wins over Udinese (4-0) and Sampdoria (4-0), and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. A man to watch in the home team will be Nigeria international Victor Osimhen, who scored a brace in the midweek triumph, while Greece international Konstantinos Manolas is likely to return to the starting XI.
Slovakia midfielder Stanislav Lobotka is out of contention through injury. The Sardinians, on the other hand, failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Empoli, and given their shaky defence, anything but a routine home win would be a major surprise. Zappa is banned for the visitors, while both Ceter and Rog are out of contention with injuries. Diego Godin and Kevin Strootman are pushing for a start.
Highlighted Player (Lorenzo Insigne):
Born in Frattamaggiore, Naples on June 4, 1991, Lorenzo Insigne is an Italian footballer who plays for his hometown club Napoli in the Serie A. Insigne is a product of Olimpia Sant’Arpino football school, but he joined the Partenopei at the age of 15.
The diminutive attacker scored his first ever goal in the Italian top flight on September 16, 2012 in a 3-1 win over Parma. Insigne, who played for the likes of Cavese, Foggia and Pescara on loan before returning to Naples, made his debut with the Italian national team on September 11, 2012 in the World Cup qualifier against Malta.
The Napoli forward scored his first ever goal for the Azzurri in a friendly against Argentina on August 14, 2013. His main position is left winger, but he is used as a second striker as well. Lorenzo Insigne has a contract with Napoli until June 30, 2022.
Highlighted Team (Cagliari):
Cagliari are a professional football club based in Cagliari, Sardinia. I Rossoblu (The Red and Blues) compete in Italian Serie A and the club’s biggest success came in 1970, when they won the national championship.
Cagliari finished the season in top position in the standings, four points clear of Juventus and it has to be noted that Luigi Riva led Cagliari to their first Serie A trophy.
I Rossoblu welcome their rivals at Stadio Sant’Elia and the capacity of the stadium is 16,000. In the 1993/1994 season Cagliari made it to the UEFA Cup semis, with the team suffering a loss to fellow Italian club Inter in the two-legged tie.
Giuseppe Pancaro helped Cagliari record a 3-2 win over Inter in the first leg, but I Rossoblu were hammered by the Nerazzurri in the second leg (3-0). Palermo are regarded as Cagliari’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the Derby delle Isole.
