Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Sunday’s football game at Mapei Stadium – Citta del Tricolore pits together Sassuolo and Roma, the two teams who defeated Udinese and Empoli respectively at the weekend. The Neroverdi have regained a much-needed confidence and they are now on a quest to move closer to top ten in the Serie A table. As always, a man to watch in the home team will be Domenico Berardi, who scored a brace against the Azzurri, whilst both Pedro Mba Obiang and Agustin Alvarez are out of contention with injuries.
The Giallorossi, on the other hand, aim to climb to the Champions League berth and given their signs of improvement up front, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. As for the away team, all Marash Kumbulla, Tammy Abraham, Chris Smalling, and Renato Sanches are sidelined with injuries. You should bear in mind that 20 goals in total have been netted in the previous five meetings between the two sides.
Highlighted Player (Domenico Berardi):
Once one of the most promising young players in Serie A, Domenico Berardi is the Italian footballer that plays for Sassuolo and the Italy national team. Born in Cairati, Calabria, the forward begun his professional career back in 2012, when he helped the Neroverdi win Serie B and play in Serie A next season and was named as the best player of the competition, only 18 years of age.
He made his first appearance for the Italy U19 national team in the same season. His excellent performances draw the attention of Juventus and the Old Lady confirmed in the beginning of the Season 2013/14 that Domenico Berardi joined the club on a co-ownership deal.
The player never played for Juventus because he remained in Sassuolo and he recently signed a new contract with the Neroverdi. The 24-year-old right winger, who can also play as a left winger and a second striker, made his first appearance in the senior national team in June 2018.
Highlighted Team (AS Roma):
AS Roma is a professional football club based in Rome. Roma were founded by a merger in 1927 and they play in the Italian Serie A. Roma’s fiercest rivals are Lazio and it has to be noted that both capital clubs play their home games at Stadio Olimpico. The two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Capitale, which is considered one of the most exciting derbies in the world of football.
The Giallorossi (The Yellow and Reds) have won three Serie A titles (1941/1942, 1982/1983, 2000/2001), while winning nine Coppa Italia trophies. The colour of Roma’s shirts is imperial purple with a golden yellow trim. A number of top-class footballers were part of Roma in the past, but Francesco Totti is undisputedly the club’s biggest legend. The Prince of Rom made his 601 appearances for Roma on 14 May, 2016 when the Giallorossi recorded a 3-1 win over Milan at Stadio San Siro.
