Algeria
Uganda will be aiming to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Bostwana when they take on Algeria at Nelson Mandela National Stadium. The Cranes aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Botswana, but they face a tough challenge against Algeria. Kampala City Muhammad Shaba is widely expected to start this time out after scoring as a substitute against the Zebras, with Rogers Mato pushing for a start as well.
The Desert Warriors, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a shocking 2-1 loss to Guinea. Former Man City ace Riyad Mahrez has been omitted, while there are no fresh injury worries in the away team. Anyhow, away win should be considered as Algeria are more of a team than Uganda. You should bear in mind that the Desert Warriors defeated the Cranes 2-1 in their last meeting in a competitive match.

Aissa Mandi is a product of Reims’ youth school. After playing eight matches for Reims II in the 2009/2010 season, he started playing for the first team in 2010. Mandi made his Reims debut against Le Havre on 20 August, 2010 and he remained at Stade Auguste Delaune until 30 June, 2016, when he decided to join Spanish side Real Betis.
The Algeria international, who was born in Chalons-en-Champagne, France, signed a five-year contract with los Beticos which expires on 30 June, 2021. His main position is centre back, but he is capable of playing as a full back as well. The right-footed defender made his Algeria debut on 5 March, 2014 and he helped the Algerian national team keep a clean sheet in a 2-0 win over Slovenia.
Mandi impressed at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil, but he scored his first goal for Algeria in a 3-3 draw with Ethiopia in the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers. He represented Algeria at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations as well.

The Algeria national football team was established in 1962 as they were not allowed to play international games under French Rule. El Khadra (the Greens) or the Desert Warriors participated at the World Cup finals four times and they recorded their best result at the major tournament in 2014 (Brazil), making it to the last 16.
The Algerians were producing outstanding displays under Vahid Halilhodzic, but despite making life difficult for star-studded Germany in the knockout stages of the showpiece tournament, the African team eventually failed to book their place in the World Cup quarter-finals. Algeria play their home games in white shirts and white shorts, while the colour of the team’s away kit is green.
The Desert Warriors impressed at the 1990 African Cup of Nations, with the team defeating Nigeria in the final of the tournament. It has to be noted, though, that Algeria hosted the tournament. The Algerians have been playing their home matches at Stade Mustapha Tchaker since 2006 and Stade 5 Juillet 1962 was regarded as the team’s home stadium before 2006.
