Our prediction for this Championship match:
Bournemouth will be aiming to regain their spot in top six when they take on fellow playoffs-chasing side Barnsley at Vitality Stadium. The Cherries are eyeing their 11th home win of the season, but this game will be anything but a walk in the park for the home team as Barnsley have been producing excellent displays in 2021. In Joshua King’s absence, a man to keep an eye on in the home team will be Dominic Solanke, who has recently recovered from a long-term injury.
The Tykes, on the other hand, recorded seven wins in the previous eight league fixtures, and given their attacking potential, we believe that punters can find value in betting on both teams to score. In the first half of the season Bournemouth crushed Barnsley 4-0, but the Tykes were totally out of form back then. In-form USA international Daryl Dike is likely to lead the line for the visitors.
Highlighted Player (Joshua King):
Joshua King is a Norway international who plays for Premier League side Bournemouth as a striker. King was born in Oslo on January 15, 1992 and he started his career at the youth team of Romsas. In 2006 the Norwegian footballer moved to Valerenga and two years later he joined Premier League giants Manchester United. Nonetheless, he did not see any game action at Old Trafford as he was immediately sent on loan to Preston.
Joshua King played for the likes of Borussia M’gladbach, Hull City and Blackburn Rovers on loan as well before signing a permanent deal with the Riversiders in January, 2013. The pacey attacker scored only three goals in 56 appearances in the league for Blackburn Rovers, but in 2015 Bournemouth chiefs decided to bring him to Vitality Stadium.
Joshua King impressed in the 2016/2017 Premier League campaign, with the Norwegian striker scoring 16 goals in 36 appearances for the Cherries. King provided two assists for his teammates in the process as well.
Highlighted Team (Barnsley):
Barnsley are an English club nicknamed the Tykes. The club was founded in 1887 and it has to be noted that they spend more seasons in the Championship than any other club in the history. The Tykes played in the Sheffield and District League from 1890, but in 1895 they were part of the Midland League. Barnsley play their home games at Oakwell, the stadium that was built in 1887.
The capacity of the stadium is 23,009 and it was opened back in 1888, just one year after the club’s foundation. The Tykes made it to the FA Cup final in 1910, but Newcastle United proved to be a big catch for the Oakwell outfit in the title game.
Nonetheless, Barnsley won the FA cup trophy in 1912 and that is considered the club’s biggest success. Barnsley defeated West Bromwich Albion in the two-legged tie (0-0, 1-0) to clinch the prestigious trophy for the first and only time in their history.
