Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Milan will be looking to make amends for a 1-0 loss to Napoli when they take on Fiorentina at Stadio Artemio Franchi on Matchday 28. The Rossoneri were leading the standings in the first half of the season, but, as things stand now, they are unlikely to regain the domestic trophy. Zlatan Ibrahimovic was sorely missed in the defeat to Napoli, but seeing that the Swedish veteran has overcome his injury, away win should be considered. Rebic is banned for the match, while Mandzukic remains sidelined through injury. All Calabria, Romagnoli, and Leao are rated doubtful.
The Viola, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 4-1 win over Benevento, with Serbia rising star Vlahovic scoring his first ever Serie A hat-trick. Since Milan do not seem to be at their sharpest at the moment, we predict that the hosts will pick up one point from Sunday’s clash. Igor and Kokorin should be the only absentees in the home team.
Highlighted Player (Franck Ribery):
After playing for the likes of Boulougne, Ales, Brest and Metz in France, Frank Ribery joined Galatasaray in 2005, but he spent no more than six months at the club. The French winger, who was born on 7 April, 1983, returned to Ligue 1, signing a deal with Olympique Marseille. Ribery scored 11 goals in 60 league appearances for the OM and Bayern Munich scouts spotted him during the 2006/2007 season.
The French footballer signed a four-year deal with the Bavarians on 7 June, 2007 for a fee of €25 million. Ribery has been playing for the German giants ever since and it has to be noted that he won his sixth Bundesliga trophy in the 2015/2016 season and the Champions League title in 2013.
The Bayern Munich ace played for France at the 2006 FIFA World Cup and he made it to the final of the tournament with les Tricolores. He has 13 caps for France U21 team. Ribery’s younger brothers Francois and Steven are footballers as well.
Highlighted Team (Milan):
AC Milan are regarded as one of the biggest club in Italy. The Rossoneri compete in the Italian Serie A and they have won 18 domestic trophies. Speaking of the club’s European success, Milan have clinched seven Champions League (European Cup) trophies.
Milan were on the verge of beating Liverpool in the 2005 Champions League final, but the Premier League outfit came from three goals behind and eventually won the prestigious trophy on penalties. The Rossoneri play their home games at Stadio San Siro (80,018), the stadium that was opened in 1926. It is well known that Milan’s bitterest rivals are Inter and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals face each other in the Derby della Madonnina.
Milan were founded in 1899 by a lace-maker from England named Herbert Kilpin and a businessman Alfred Edwards. Milan’s home kits are red and black and that is why the team’s nickname is Rossoneri (The Red and Blacks).
The likes of Alessandro Costacurta, Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Roberto Donadoni, Dejan Savicevic, Frank Rijkaard, Marco van Basten, Ruud Gullit and Andrea Pirlo are the most famous footballers who have represented the San Siro outfit.
