Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
After suffering a 2-1 loss at Lens, Nimes will be looking to keep their survival hopes alive when they take on Reims at their Stade des Costieres. Les Crocodiles are four points behind the safe zone, meaning that Sunday’s clash is of big importance for them. Considering that Reims are stuck in the middle of the table, home win should definitely be considered. All Andres Cubas, Anthony Briancon, Pablo Martinez, and Clement Depres are likely to miss the game with injuries.
Les Rouges et Blancs, on the other hand, have little to play for in the season finale, which is probably the main reason why we are tempted to put our money on the relegation-threatened hosts. In the previous meeting between the two teams at Stade des Costieres Nimes defeated Reims 2-0. Defender Wout Faes returns from suspension, while Ghislain Konan, Mathieu Cadaro, and Valon Berisha remain in Reims’ recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Baptiste Reynet):
Baptiste Reynet is a goalkeeper who was born in Romans, France on October 28, 1990. After playing for the likes of Moursoise and Valence at youth level, he joined Martigue football academy in 2007. The 185-cm-tall shoot-stopper made 53 appearances for the Martigues first team and in 2011 he moved to Dijon.
Baptiste Reynet was producing fine performances with the Mustards in the 2012/2013 Ligue 2 campaign and, as a result, Lorient chiefs decided to bring him to Stade du Moustoir. Reynet, though, played only six games for les Merlus in the French top flight as he was loaned back to Dijon after only one year at Lorient.
The French goalkeeper impressed in the 2015/2016 Ligue 2 campaign and it has to be noted that he made 17 clean sheets in the process. Baptiste Reynet, who has established himself as a first-choice shoot-stopper at Dijon has a contract with the club which expired on June 30, 2021.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
