Our prediction for this Champions League match:
Barcelona will look to make amends for back-to-back losses to Bayern Munchen and Benfica when they take on Dynamo Kiev at their Camp Nou. Despite Barca’s slow start to the season, Ronald Koeman is still in charge of the Catalan outfit. Summer signing Kun Aguero could play some part in Wednesday’s clash, while fit-again winger Ansu Fati is likely to start. All Araujo, Braithwaite, Dembele, Pedri, and Wague remain in the recovery room, while Eric Garcia serves a one-game ban.
The Ukrainians, on the other hand, are leading the chase for the domestic trophy, but seeing that Barca face a must-win situation in the Camp Nou showdown, we are not tempted to put our money on the underdogs. Denys Garmash is pushing for a start after scoring a brace in the 4-1 win over Lviv, while Vladyslav Supryaga is likely to miss the game with injury.
Highlighted Player (Memphis Depay):
Memphis Depay is a Dutch winger who started his professional career at PSV Eindhoven. During the 2014/2015 Eredivisie campaign the pacey footballer was on Manchester United’s radar and on June 12, 2015 the Premier League club confirmed the signing of the Dutchman. Many people expected that he would impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League season, but the former PSV ace played below expectations for the Red Devils, scoring only two goals (one assist) during the season.
After playing only for league games for Man Utd in the 2016/2017 season, Memphis Depay was sold to Olympique Lyon on January 20, 2017. Depay signed a four-and-a-half year deal with les Gones for a fee of around £16 million. The Dutch winger was producing fine performances for Lyon in the 2016/2017 season; he scored five goals for the club, while providing eight assists for his teammates.
Memphis Depay made his senior debut for Netherlands on October 15, 2013 in a 2-0 win over Turkey. Depay did well to win the 2011 European Championship with Netherlands U17 team.
Highlighted Team (Dynamo Kyiv):
The most successful football club in Ukraine, Dynamo Kyiv has not been relegated to a lower division since its inception in 1927. First founded as a part of the Soviet Dynamo Sports Society, Dynamo Kyiv became a member of the Ukrainian Premier League after the dissolution of the Soviet Union.
Over the course of its rich history, Dynamo Kyiv has won the total of 28 national titles, 13 of which came during the Soviet era. In addition, Dynamo Kyiv won 20 national cup competitions, while it also grabbed 3 major continental trophies, including two UEFA Cup Winners’ Cups. Oleh Blokhin remains to this date the most successful player of the Ukrainian giants with his 266 goals scored for the Kyiv club.
However, current Ukraine national team head coach Andriy Shevchenko is arguably the most recognisable player in Dynamo Kyiv history. Former Milan and Chelsea star scored the total of 124 goal during his two stints with the Ukrainian club.
