Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Leeds United play host to Southampton at their Elland Road in what is expected to be an interesting Premier League game. The Whites aim to build on back-to-back wins over Norwich City and Wolverhampton, and they will give 100% to take advantage of Southampton’s poor form. Patrick Bamford is now sidelined with a foot injury, while all Bate, Shackleton, and Hjelde are major doubts. Both Firpo and Roberts remain in the recovery room.
The Saints, on the other hand, are on a three-game losing run in the Premier League. Southampton are stuck in the middle of the table, and seeing that they have little to play for in the season finale, we are tempted to put our money on the promotion-chasing hosts. Both Alex McCarthy and Lyanco miss out with injuries, but there are no suspended players in the away team ahead of the trip to Leeds.
Highlighted Player (Kalvin Phillips):
Kalvin Phillips started his youth career at Wortley Juniors, but he has been playing for Leeds United ever since he joined the Elland Road outfit at the age of 15. The 177-cm-tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Leeds, but he has yet to make his debut for the England national team.
Born in Leeds on December 2, 1995 Kalvin Phillips is a right-footed footballer whose main position is defensive midfield. However, he is used as a central midfielder as well. The English footballer scored his first ever goal for the Whites in a 2-1 loss to Cardiff City on April 11, 2015.
Kalvin Phillips made his debut for Leeds United against Wolverhampton on April 6, 2015. Nicknamed “Yorkshire Pirlo”, Phillips is known for his sharp passes and long ball distribution. He covers his defensive duties in style as well.
Highlighted Team (Southampton):
Southampton are an English football club that have been playing their home games at St Mary's Stadium since 2001. The Saints were based at The Dell in the past and the capacity of Southampton’s new stadium is 32,505. Southampton wear red and white striped shirts and the colour of the team’s away kit is navy and green.
The Saints have yet to win the Premier League trophy, but they did well to clinch the FA Cup title back in 1976, while participating in the final of the prestigious competition in 1900, 1902 and 2003. Southampton outplayed Manchester United in the 1976 FA Cup final and that is probably the club’s greatest victory ever.
The club are well known for their football academy and Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale is one of the players who began their football carrier at the St. Mary’s Stadium outfit. Southampton’s fiercest rivals are Portsmouth and the two teams square off against each other in the South Coast Derby.
