Our prediction for this Ligue 1 match:
Stade de la Meinau will host Sunday’s Ligue 1 game between Strasbourg and Reims, the two teams who are eyeing their first win of the season. Le Racing came from behind to share the spoils with Nice at the weekend, with veteran Kevin Gameiro scoring the equalizer. The former Sevilla striker should keep his place up front alongside Habib Diallo, while all Pierre-Gabriel, Fila, Sissoko, and Kandil continue to miss out through injuries.
Les Rouges et Blancs, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in back-to-back losses to Marseille (1-4) and Clermont (2-4), which is probably the main reason why we are going to put our money on Strasbourg. Emmanuel Agbadou is banned for the match, while the likes of Rafik Guitane, Nathanael Mbuku, Thomas Foket, and Anastasios Donis remain in the recovery room.
Highlighted Player (Adrien Thomasson):
A midfielder with a keen eye for a precise pass, Adrian Thomasson is a French international who plays for Ligue 1 side Strasbourg. Thomasson is a versatile asset who can be equally deployed in a number of different positions up front, including a holding position at the centre of the park.
He began his professional career at Evian in 2012 and spent three years with Les Roses before moving to Nantes in 2015. One league match shy from entering the 100-game club, Adrien Thomasson scored nine goals for the Canaries before joining Strasbourg in the summer of 2018.
As a player who likes to hold on to the ball and build play from behind, Thomasson boasts impressive passing ability. Albeit an attacking midfielder who can play on both wings and in advanced midfield position, this French footballer also makes quite a contribution in defense.
Highlighted Team (Reims):
Reims are a French football club founded in 1931. Reims welcome their rivals at Stade Auguste Delaune, which can hold up to 21,684 people. Believe it or not, Reims won six Ligue 1 titles (1948/1949, 1952/1953, 1954/1955, 1957/1958, 1959/1960, 1961/1962). To make things even better for the fans, Reims participated in the European Cup final on two occasions.
In 1956 they faced Real Madrid in the title game and despite taking the lead after six minutes, the French side eventually suffered a 4-3 loss to los Blancos at Parc des Princes. Three years later Reims had a chance to get their revenge on Real Madrid, but the Spanish giants once again won the European Cup, with Mateos and Di Stefano finding the net in the 2-0 victory over Albert Batteux.
The club’s most notable footballer is Just Fontaine, who scored 13 goals for France at the 1958 FIFA World Cup finals. Reims’ home colours are red and white, with the team wearing white when playing on the road.
