Our prediction for this Championship match:
Rotherham United and Blackpool face each other at Aesseal New York Stadium in what will be their first meeting since January 2020. Back then Rotherham defeated Blackpool 2-1, meaning that the visitors are hungry for revenge. The Millers are stuck in the middle of the table with ten points in their pocket, but their fine home record (2-2-0) is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of Wednesday’s clash. All Grant Hall, Cameron Hymphreys, and Cohen Bramall remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The Seasiders, on the other hand, did well to beat Huddersfield on the road in their last league match, with Canada international Theodor Corbeanu scoring the winner. Summer signing Conor Washington is pushing for a start, while all Keshi Anderson, Jake Beesley, Charlie Patino, Kevin Stewart, and Lewis Fiorini remain in the recovery room. Anyhow, home win should be considered as Rotherham have turned their Aesseal New York Stadium into a real fortress.
Highlighted Player (Josh Vickers):
A product of Arsenal's youth academy, Josh Vickers, is an English footballer who plays for League One Club Lincoln City. The 6ft 2-inch goalkeeper's first appearance came for Isthmian League outfit Canvey Island having joined them on loan in August 2013. He went on to play over 30 games for the club before returning to Arsenal to sign his first professional contract.
His time at the Gunners was shortlived, however, and involved another loan to Conference South club Concord Rangers before making a permanent switch to Premier League side Swansea City in August 2015 on a two-year contract. In his time at Swansea, Vickers made zero appearances for the first team but did feature in the club's under-18 and under-23 team.
Vickers spent his 2016/2017 season on loan to Barnet, where he made his League One debut against Cambridge United on the 6th of August, 2016. Born on the 1st of December, 1995, the 23-year-old has featured 47 times for his current club Lincoln, on a contract that expires on the 30th of June, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Blackpool):
Blackpool FC are a professional English club based in Blackpool, Lancashire. Considering that Blackpool is a seaside town, it is no surprise they are nicknamed the Seasiders. Founded back in 1887, the club play their home matches at Bloomfield Road, which can hold up to 17,338 spectators. In the 2009/2010 season Blackpool secured promotion to the Premier League, but they were not competitive at this level, suffering relegation to the Championship the following season.
The club’s biggest success, though, came in 1953 when they defeated Bolton Wanderers 4-3 in the FA Cup final. Blackpool are well known for their orange shirts, but the dominant colour of their away kit is white. Preston are considered the club’s biggest rivals, with the two teams facing each other in the West Lancashire derby.
Charlie Adam, who played for Liverpool and has 26 caps for Scotland national team, is regarded as one of the club’s most notable players.
