Our prediction for this FA Cup match:
Preston play host to Huddersfield at their Deepdale in the FA Cup round 3. The Lilywhites aim to build on a hard-fought 1-0 win over Stoke City, and they are seen as favourites to advance to the last 32. Emil Riis limped off with injury in the Bet365 Stadium clash, with Benjamin Woodburn likely to step up, while Ireland trio Brady, Maguire, and Parrott should miss out with injuries.
The Terriers, on the other hand, are not enjoying a season to remember, with the team sitting in the relegation zone with only 25 points on their account. Huddersfield are not regarded as good travellers, and, taking everything into account, they are unlikely to spoil Preston’s party at Deepdale. As for the away side, midfielder Jonathan Hogg has joined the likes of Jackson, Jones, Nakayama, Pearson, and Turton in the treatment room.
Highlighted Player (David Cornell):
Born in Waunarlwydd, Wales on March 28, 1991, David Cornell is a goalkeeper who plays for Northampton Town in the League Two. The 180-cm tall shot-stopper is a product of the Swansea City football school, but he did not make any appearances for the Swans at senior level.
Cornell played for the likes of Port Talbot Town, Hereford United, St. Mirren, and Portsmouth on loan before signing a permanent contract with Oldham Athletic in the 2015/2016 season. In the summer of 2016, he joined Northampton Town on a two-year deal.
Speaking of his international career, David Cornell has three caps with the Wales U21 team, but he has yet to earn a call-up for the senior team. The Northampton Town goalkeeper wears the number 1 jersey, and his preferred foot is right. He has a contract with the Cobblers until June 30, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Huddersfield):
Back in 1926 Huddersfield Town became the first English club to win three straight domestic trophies. Since 1908 the Terriers were playing at Leeds Road, but in 1994 John Smith’s Stadium became home of Huddersfield Town. The club play in the English second tier (Championship) and the colour of the their home kit is blue and white (stripes).
Huddersfield Town were founded in 1910 and just three years later they entered the Football League. In 1926 the Terriers won their last domestic trophy, but they did well finishing runners up in the FA Cup 1920. The club’s biggest rivals are Leeds United and it has to be noted that Huddersfield Town have better head-to-head record of the two teams.
Bradford City are considered Huddersfield’s local rivals as well, but there are small rivalries with Barnsley, Halifax Town, Manchester City and Oldham Athletic. The club’s chairman is Dean Hoyle.
