Our prediction for this FIFA Club World Cup match:
A place in the FIFA Club World Cup quarter-finals will be at stake when Al Ahly and Auckland City face each other at Stade Ibn Batouta on Thursday evening. Al Ahly booked their place at the prestigious competition by finishing as runners up in the 2022 CAF Champions League, but the bookies see them as hot favourites to beat the New Zealand outfit in Tanger. Keep in mind, though, that all Karim Fouad, Akram Tawfik, and Oufa Shobeir remain on the sidelines with injuries.
The nominal visitors, on the other hand, won their 10th OFC Champions League last year, with the team beating Venus 3-0 in the final. Even though both Reid Drake and Jordan Vale have recovered from their respective injuries, we are tempted to put our money on Al Ahly as they are a more experienced side than Auckland City. Angus Kilkolly is injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Team (Auckland City):
Auckland City are a New Zealand football club which compete in the New Zealand Football Championship. Despite being level on points with second-placed Team Wellington he Navy Blues won their eighth domestic trophy in 2017 due to a better goal difference and they participated at the FIFA Club World Cup on numerous occasions.
Auckland City recorded their best result at the prestigious tournament in 2014, with the team finishing the process in third position. The New Zealand club did well to make it to the semis of the FIFA Club World Cup, but Argentine side San Lorenzo eventually proved to be a big catch for the Navy Blues.
Auckland City footballers wear navy blue jerseys when playing at home, whilst their away kit is white. Kiwitea Street is the club’s home ground and the capacity of the stadium is 3.500. A number of European footballers played for Auckland City in the past and Spanish winger Albert Riera is currently part of the Kiwitea Street outfit.
