Our prediction for this League 1 match:
Abbey Stadium will host Tuesday’s football game between Cambridge United and Morecambe, the two relegation-threatened teams. Cambridge United extended their losing run to three games against Portsmouth, with the team remaining in the relegation zone, and given their difficulties in front of goal, home win should not be considered. January signing George Thomas remains in the recovery room, but Steve Seddon is back to contention.
Meanwhile, the Shrimps are eager to escape the relegation zone, and we are positive that they will adopt an attack-minded approach in the midweek clash. Since both sides are likely to go for a win, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. Michael Mellon continues to miss out with injury, while Cole Stockton returned from injury in a goalless draw with Bolton. You should know that Cambridge United emerged triumphant in each of their last five meetings with Morecambe.
Highlighted Player (Liam O’Neil):
Born in Cambridge, England on July 31, 1993, Liam O’Neil is an English footballer who plays as both defender as midfielder for Cambridge United in the League Two. O’Neil is a product of the Cambridge United football school, but he played for Histon during his youth career as well.
In the summer of 2012 he joined WBA youth academy, and it has to be noted that he made three appearances for the Baggies at senior level in all competitions. Liam O’Neil played for the likes of VPS and Scunthorpe United on loan as well before joining Chesterfield in 2015.
After scoring two goals in 45 appearances for the club in the league, O’Neil moved to Cambridge United in the winter of 2017. As his mother comes from Wales, O’Neil is open to play for the Wales national team, but he has yet to earn a cap with the Dragons.
Highlighted Team (Morecambe):
Based in Lancashire, England, Morecambe are a professional club that compete in the League 2. The Shrimps were founded in 1920, and they welcome their home rivals at Globe Arena. The venue, which was opened in August, 2010, can hold up to 6,476 people.
Morecambe wear red shirts and red shorts when playing in front of home fans, while yellow is the dominant colour of their away kit. Fellow Lancashire-based club Accrington Stanley are seen as the club’s fiercest rivals. The Shrimps have rivalries with the likes of Lancaster City, Fleetwood Town, Barrow, Kendal Town, and Southport as well.
In 1974 Morecambe won the FA Trophy as they defeated Dartford 2-1 in the title game, and 14 years later they lifted the Conference League Cup trophy. The Shrimps secured promotion into the Football League with a 2-1 win over Exeter City in the 2007 play-offs final.
