Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Athletic Bilbao will look to bounce back from a 1-0 loss to Barcelona when they take on Real Valladolid in the La Liga round 26. The Lions are determined to represent Spain in European competitions next term, but they need to start winning on a regular basis if they are to turn the dream into reality. Even though the Basques are on a four-game winless run in Primera Division, away win should be considered as they are more of a team than Valladolid. Oihan Sancet is back from suspension, while all Inigo Lekue, Jon Morcillo, and Unai Simon should miss out with injuries.
La Pucela, meanwhile, sit in the 14th place in the standings, but they are only two points clear of the relegation zone. In their last meeting in the Spanish top flight Athletic Club defeated Real Valladolid 3-0, which is yet another reason why away win should be considered. To make things even worse for the home side, both Roque Mesa and Martin Hongla are banned for the match.
Highlighted Player (Jordi Masip):
Jordi Masip is yet another La Masia product. Masip began his youth career at Mercantil, but in 2004 he joined the famous Barcelona football academy. The 180-cm-tall goalkeeper was struggling to establish himself as a first-team regular in Barcelona at senior level, but he played for Barca B in Segunda Division from 2008 to 2014.
After making 79 appearances for Barcelona B, Jordi Masip finally made his senior debut for the Catalan giants on December 16, 2014 in a 8-1 win over Huesca. The two teams faced in Copa del Rey and it has to be noted that Masip made his La liga debut for Barca in a 2-2 draw with Deportivo La Coruna in May, 2014.
In 2017 the Spanish shot-stopper born in Sabadell signed a three-year deal with Real Valladolid. Masip quickly established himself as a first-team regular at La Pucela and you should know that he managed to keep 11 clean sheets in 42 appearances for the club in the 2017/2018 Segunda Division campaign.
Highlighted Team (Athletic Bilbao):
Athletic Club (mostly known as Athletic de Bilbao) is a Spanish football club from the Bask region which is playing currently in the Primera Division. The club from Bilbao is playing in the highest Spanish division since its founded in 1928 and is next to Real Madrid and FC Barcelona for a longest period of time in the Primera Division. Athletic de Bilbao used to play until 2012 in the San Mames stadium (also known as La Catedral).
Since 2013 the club is playing in anew stadium. Athletic Bilbao is known for its rivalry with Real Madrid. Atletico Madrid was founded by Bask students in Madrid. The old relationship between both teams is visible in the red blue jerseys of both teams.
The second team Athletic de Bilbao is playing in the Segunda Division B in Spain. Athletic Bilbao won the Primera Division 8 times, the Copa del Rey 24 times, the Spanish super cup 2 times. Athletic de Bilbao didn’t won any prizes in Europe yet but managed to be the runner up in 1977 and 2012 in the UEFA cup.
