Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
West Ham will be aiming to win their first big European trophy since 1965 when they take on Fiorentina in the Europa League final on Wednesday evening. The Hammers set up a meeting with the Viola by beating AZ Alkmaar in the two-legged tier and David Moyes’ men are seen as favourites to win the Fortuna Arena clash as well. Italian attacker Gianluca Scamacca should be the only absentee in the Premier League outfit.
The Serie A side, on the other hand, booked their place in the final by eliminating Basel in the double-header. Anyhow, under 2.5 goals betting option should be considered as both sides are likely to adopt a cautious approach in the title game. As for the nominal hosts, midfielder Gaetano Castrovilli is a major doubt, while goalkeeper Salvatore Sirigu remains in the recovery room. This will be the first meeting between the two sides since 1975 when Fiorentina defeated West Ham in the Anglo-Italian League Cup.
Highlighted Player (Christian Kouame):
Christian Kouame is an Ivory Coast international who has been playing for Serie A side Genoa since 2018. Kouame started his youth career at Prato and after ending his loan spells with the likes of Sassuolo and Inter, he returned to Stadio Lungobisenzio.
The 185-cm-tall forward made his professional debut with Prato on September 6, 2015 in a 2-1 loss to Pisa. Christian Kouame started the match, but he was replaced by Alberto Aladje after 66 minutes. The Genoa attacker, though, has yet to earn a call-up for the Ivory Coast national team. He has two caps for the Ivory Coast U23 team, but he is still eyeing his senior team debut.
His main position is centre-forward, but he is used as both left and right winger as well. The Genoa footballer was born in Abijan on December 6, 1997 and he has a contract with the Rossoblu until June 30, 2023.
Highlighted Team (West Ham):
West Ham United are an English football club based in East London. The club was founded in 1895 and it has to be noted that the club’s name was Thames Ironworks back then. The Hammers were playing their home games at Upton Park from 1904 until 2016, when they moved to the Stadium at Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park.
West Ham have won three FA Cup trophies (1964, 1975 and 1980) and they were runners-up in 1923 and 2006. The capital club finished the 1985/1986 England first division campaign in third place in the standings and that is the club’s highest placing in the top flight. West Ham United have strong rivalries with fellow London clubs, but Tottenham Hotspur are considered the club’s main rivals.
A number of top-class players were part of West Ham in the past and the likes of Joe Cole, Carlos Tevez, Paolo Di Canio, Paul Ince, Julian Dicks, Shaka Hislop, Michael Carrick and Slaven Bilic are some of them.
