Our prediction for this Championship match:
Riverside Stadium will host Saturday’s clash between Middlesbrough and Millwall, the two teams who have big ambitions for the 2023/24 Championship campaign. The Boro did well to make it to the playoffs semis last time out, but Coventry proved to be a big catch for Michael Carrick’s troops in the Wembley Stadium showdown. The former Man Utd midfielder is still in charge of the team, with the likes of Seny Dieng, Tom Glover, Jamie Jones, and Alex Gilbert joining the Riverside Stadium outfit.
The Lions, on the other hand, suffered a 2-1 loss to Fortuna Sittard in their last warm-up game. As Millwall are not regarded as good travellers, we predict that Middlesbrough are going to kick off the new Championship season in style. Scott Malone and Mason Bennett are no longer parts of the team, but the club chiefs have signed the likes of Casper De Norre, Kevin Nisbet, Joe Bryan, and Wes Harding in the summer transfer window.
Highlighted Player (Duncan Watmore):
Duncan Watmore is an English footballer who started his youth career at the famous Manchester United football academy. The 175-cm-tall winger then joined Altrincham at the age of 16 and he continued playing for the lower-league club at senior level.
After scoring 15 goals in 48 appearances for the club in the league, Watmore moved to Sunderland in 2013, but it has to be noted that he played for the likes of Clitheroe and Curzon Ashton on loan as well during his spell with Altrincham.
During the 2014/2015 season he played 9 games for the Scottish Premier League club Hibernian, but he returned to Sunderland at the end of the campaign. Duncan Watmore has 13 caps for the England U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His main position is winger, but he is capable of producing fine performances as centre-forward as well.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough is a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well.
Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
