All eyes will be on Estadio Municipal de Montilivi when high-flying Girona face title-chasing Real Madrid on Saturday afternoon. The Catalans made their best ever start to the season, with the team leading the standings ahead of Matchday 8 and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. Considering that Girona scored 11 goals in total in the previous three league matches, we are positive that they will find the net against los Blancos. All Bernardo Espinosa, Borja Garcia, Joel Roca Casals, Ricard Artero, and Toni Villa are sidelined with injuries for the home team.
Carlo Ancelotti’s men, on the other hand, recorded a routine 2-0 win over Las Palmas in their last league match, with influential winger Carlos Vinicius making his return from injury. Since Vini should help Real Madrid improve offensively, we are tempted to put our money on both teams to score. As for the away team, both Eder Militao and Thibaut Courtois miss out with injuries, while experienced midfielders Luka Modric and Tony Kroos are pushing for a start.

Toni Kroos is a Real Madrid midfielder who started playing for Bayern Munich II at senior level. He made 13 appearances for the reserve team and on 31 January, 2009 he joined Bayer Leverkusen on loan. He made his Bayer debut on 28 February, 2009, coming as a substitute in a 1-0 loss to Hannover.
The German midfielder scored ten goals in 43 league appearances with the BayArena outfit and in the summer of 2010 he returned to Bayern Munich. Kroos won three Bundesliga trophies with the mighty Bavarian giants (2007/2008, 2012/2013, 2013/2014) and in 2013 he was part of Bayern Munich’s team that won the Champions League trophy.
In 2014, though, he decided to leave the club and the German superstar joined Real Madrid on a six-year-contract. Kroos won the 2015/2016 Champions League trophy with los Blancos and it has to be noted that he produced a thrilling performance in the title game against Atletico Madrid. In 2014 he clinched the FIFA World Cup trophy with Germany.
Highlighted Team (Girona):
After several unsuccessful attempts, finally secured promotion to Primera Division at the end of the 2016/2017 season. The Catalan outfit finished the campaign in second place in the standings, 14 points behind Levante and only two clear of third-placed Getafe. Girona play their home games at Montilivi and the capacity of the venue is 9.286.
Speaking of the club history, Girona were founded in the café Norat in La Rambla of Girona on July 23, 1930 and they played their first official game against Colonia Artigas. A number of Spanish coaches were in charge of the team in the past, but it has to be noted that Uruguayan tactician Dagoberto Moll (1965/1966) and Karoly Plattko (1948/1949) of Hungary were in charge of the club as well.
