Deportivo Alaves and Real Betis square off against each other at Estadio Mendizorrotza in what is expected to be a close La Liga encounter. The Basques failed to impress in a 2-0 loss to Osasuna at the weekend, but they should not be written off just yet. Midfielder Antonio Blanco is banned for the match, while defender Andoni Gorosabel misses out through suspension. Both Jon Guridi and Giuliano Simeone should miss out with injuries.
Los Beticos, on the other hand, produced their best display of the season in a 3-0 win over Valencia, but they should not stop now. The Andalusians aim to keep on climbing the standings, but seeing that Alaves are tough to beat at home, we are tempted to put our money on draw. The good news for the visiting side is that midfielder Selim Amallah is back from suspension, while the likes of Willian Jose, Luiz Henrique, Youssouf Sabaly, and Nabil Fekir are out of contention with injuries.

Well-travelled Brazilian international Willian Jose was born in Porto Calvo and made his first football steps at a local Clube de Regatas. It was at the age of 17 that he was snapped by Gremio Barueri where he made 26 league appearances and scored six goal in his first – and only – senior season at the club.
In 2011, Willian Jose moved to Deportivo Maldonado but his five-year stint with the Uruguay outfit was marked by no less than seven different loan spells, one of which was to La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid. Standing at 186cm tall, Willian Jose is a notable presence in the box. This powerful centre forward will use his physicality to hold up ball and bring his teammates into play.
The Brazilian international did well to make a name for himself in Spain by playing for Zaragoza and Las Palmas, respectively, before he sealed a permanent move to Real Sociedad in 2016. A member of both FIFA U-20 World Cup and South American Youth Championship winning sides with Brazil in 2011, Willian Jose has not been given a chance to prove his worth at the senior level with Selecao.

Alaves is a Spanish football club located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava. The club were founded in 1921 and they play their home games at Estadio Mendizorrotza. The capacity of the stadium is 19,840 and it has to be noted that it is the third oldest stadium in Spanish football. After spending several years in the Spanish Segunda Division, los Babazorros returned to the top flight in 2016.
The color of Alaves’ home kit is blue and white and the club’s local rivals are fellow Basque sides Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Osasuna and Eibar. Alaves made it to the UEFA CUP final in 2001, but they were beaten by Liverpool 5-4 in a thrilling football clash. Anyhow, that is still regarded as the club’s biggest success. Los Babazorros booked their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on four occasions and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy.
