Our prediction for this Europa Conference League match:
Following a routine 2-0 win over Cukaricki in their second group game, Genk will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Ferencvaros at their Cegeka Arena. Genk are brimming with confidence following a thrilling 4-0 win over Mechelen and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. As boss Wouter Vrancken has a full squad to choose from, home win should be considered.
The Green and Whites, on the other hand, did well to hold Fiorentina to a 2-2 draw at Stadio Artemio Franchi, but given Genk’s fine form, we do not believe that the visitors are capable of grabbing something from Thursday’s encounter. Samy Mmaee must be very cautious this time out as the Ferencvaros defender is only one yellow card away from suspension. When the two teams met in a friendly three years ago Genk defeated Ferencvaros 2-1.
Highlighted Player (Patrik Hrosovsky):
Born in Prievidza, Czechoslovakia, Patrik Hrosovsky is a midfielder who plays for Viktoria Plzen. Patrik Hrosovsky started his youth career at his hometown club Prievidza and he played for the youth team of Trencin as well before joining Viktoria Plzen.
The Slovakian footballer has been playing for the Viktorka ever since, but it has to be noted that he played for the likes of Sokolov, Usti nad Labem and Znojmo on loan as well. Patrik Hrosovsky made his Slovakia debut on November 19, 2014 in a friendly game against Finland.
His main position is central midfield, but he is capable of playing as both defensive midfielder and attacking midfielder as well. Hrosovsky has yet to find the net with the Slovakia national football team, but he found the net for the U21 team in a 7-1 win over Luxembourg at the 2015 European Championship. He has a contract with Viktoria Plzen which expires on June 30, 2019.
Highlighted Team (Ferencvaros):
Established back in 1899, Ferencvaros are the most successful Hungarian club. The Zold Sasok clinched their 30th domestic trophy in the 2018/2019 season, but they eventually failed to book their place in the Champions League. Dinamo Zagreb proved to be a big catch for Ferencvaros in the Champions League play-offs, but the Green Eagles booked their spot in the Europa League group stages for the first time ever the same season.
Ferencvaros are well known for their green and white home kit, but they wear white shirts and white shorts when playing on the travels. Ujpest are considered the club’s fiercest rivals, whilst Ferencvaros and MTK Budapest face each other in the Eternal derby.
Honved are seen as the club’s bitter rivals as well. Back in 1975 the Zold Sasok made it to the UEFA Cup Winner’s Cup, with the team losing to Ukrainian club Dynamo Kiev in the title game. Sandor Kocsis, who scored 75 goals in 68 appearances for the Hungarian national team, is the club’s most notable footballer.
