Our prediction for this Premier League match:
Newcastle United will look to recover from a shocking 1-0 loss to Luton Town when they take on Nottingham Forest in the Premier League round 19. The Magpies continue with their old habit of producing fine showings at home, while struggling on the travels and they are seen as favourites to win the midweek clash. Alexander Isak is widely expected to return to the starting XI, while Joelinton is a major doubt. Defender Jamaal Lascelles should recover in time to face the Reds.
Forest, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in a 3-2 loss to Bournemouth and given their poor form in December, home win should be considered. Taking everything into account, we predict that the hosts are going to pick up all three points from the Boxing Day showdown. As for the away team, Serge Aurier is rated doubtful, while both Felipe and Sangare should be fit for Tuesday’s clash. Willy Boly misses out through suspension.
Highlighted Player (Jamaal Lascelles):
Born in Derby on November 11, 1993, Jamaal Lascelles is an English footballer who plays for Newcastle United as a defender. Lascelles began his youth career at Nottingham Forest and he continued playing for the Reds on senior level.
After scoring two goals in 32 appearances for Forest, Jamaal Lascelles moved to Newcastle United in 2014 and he has been playing for the Magpies ever since. The 188-cm-tall centre-back has a deal with Newcastle United, which should expire in June, 2023. Jamaal Lascelles made two appearances for England U21, but he has yet to make his senior debut with the Three Lions.
Speaking of his individual honours, the English defender was part of PFA Team of the Year for the 2016/2017 Championship season. Jamaal Lascelles scored three goals in 35 appearances for Newcastle United in the 2017/2018 Premier League season, helping Rafa Benitez’s team secure yet another top flight survival.
Highlighted Team (Newcastle):
Newcastle United failed to impress in the 2015/2016 Premier League campaign and, as a result, they dropped to the English second tier. The Magpies will host their rivals at their St. James’ Park in the 2016/2017 Championship campaign and it has to be noted that the capacity of the stadium is 52,354.
Newcastle United have won four domestic trophies (1904/1905, 1906/1907, 1908/1909, 1926/1927), while lifting six FA Cup titles (1910, 1924, 1932, 1951, 1952, 1955) and a number of star players were part of the St. James’ Park outfit in the past.
David Ginola, Michael Owen, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand, Nolberto Solano, Gary Speed, Obafemi Martins and Kevin Nolan are notable footballers who are still remembered at the club. Newcastle’s fiercest rivals are Sunderland and there have always been fireworks when the two local rivals face each other in the Tyne-Wear derby. The color of Newcastle’s home kit is black and white.
