Our prediction for this Primera Division match:
Sevilla and Deportivo Alaves take on each other at Estadio Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan in the opening match of the La Liga round 20. Los Sevillanos aim to build on the Copa del Rey win over Ferrol and they are surely capable of matching the Basques on home soil. As Youssef En-Nesyri is on international duty with Morocco, Rafa Mir is widely expected to lead the line for the hosts, while all Nemanja Gudelj, Marcos Acuna, Jesus Navas, Erik Lamela, and Mariano Diaz should miss out with injuries.
Los Babazorros, on the other hand, are not regarded as good travellers and they are still eyeing their first away win of the season. As Alaves struggled at “Pizjuan” in the past, losing seven of their last nine encounters with Sevilla at the venue, home win should be considered. Abdel Abqar is on international duty, while fellow Alaves defender Aleksandar Sedlar is sidelined with injury.
Highlighted Player (Marko Dmitrovic):
A Red Star Belgrade youth prospect, Serbian goalkeeper Marko Dmitrovic never got a chance to shine at his boyhood club. The talented shot-stopper was forced to take a longer road to prominence and travelled through Hungary, England and Spain to find his place under the sun. Spells with Ujpest, Charlton Athletic and Alcoron brought nothing but disappointment for the Serbia ‘keeper, who rose to full prominence at Eibar.
Dmitrovic was voted the best player of Eibar for the 2017/18 season after not missing a single league appearance for Los Armeros. Apart from his footballing exploits, Marko Dmitrovic remains remembered for saving Angel Rodriguez Diaz’s life in a game against Getafe.
Dmitrovic was the one to unintentionally knock Angel to the ground after a duel in the box and was also the first one to pull his tongue out when it became apparent that Angel was lying still on the ground. Marko Dmitrovic is Serbia’s second choice goalkeeper who made his debut in 2017. The Eibar custodian was part of Serbia’s World Cup expedition in Russia but did not get a chance in goal with Vladimir Stojkovic being favoured between the sticks.
Highlighted Team (Alaves):
Alaves is a Spanish football club located in Vitoria-Gasteiz, Alava. The club were founded in 1921 and they play their home games at Estadio Mendizorrotza. The capacity of the stadium is 19,840 and it has to be noted that it is the third oldest stadium in Spanish football. After spending several years in the Spanish Segunda Division, los Babazorros returned to the top flight in 2016.
The color of Alaves’ home kit is blue and white and the club’s local rivals are fellow Basque sides Real Sociedad, Athletic Club, Osasuna and Eibar. Alaves made it to the UEFA CUP final in 2001, but they were beaten by Liverpool 5-4 in a thrilling football clash. Anyhow, that is still regarded as the club’s biggest success. Los Babazorros booked their place in the Copa del Rey quarter-finals on four occasions and they have yet to win the Primera Division trophy.
