Our prediction for this Championship match:
Buoyed by back-to-back wins over Ipswich Town and Cardiff City, Preston will be aiming to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Middlesbrough on Matchday 32. The Lilywhites have found their best form of late and they must be high on confidence ahead of the midweek clash. With no fresh injury worries to report, Ryan Lowe is unlikely to make changes to the team that defeated the South Wales outfit at the weekend.
The Boro, on the other hand, aim to make amends for a 2-1 loss to Bristol City. Middlesbrough failed to win the previous three league matches and given Preston’s signs of improvement, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the home side. Both Luke Thomas and Riley McGree should sneak into the starting XI, while Josh Coburn misses out with a groin problem. Matt Crooks is on the verge of leaving the club.
Highlighted Player (Alan Browne):
Alan Browne is a Republic of Ireland international who plays for Preston North End as a central midfielder. Born in Cork on April 15, 1999, Browne began his youth career at Ringmahon Rangers, but he soon moved to his hometown club Cork City.
Despite being part of the Cork City senior team, he did not enjoy first-team football with the Rebel Army. On January 1, 2014 Alan Browne signed a deal with Preston North End in the League One and one year later he helped the Lilywhites beat Preston in the play-off final and secure promotion to the Championship.
The 179-cm-tall midfielder has established himself as a first-team regular at Preston and it has to be noted that he played for the Ireland national team in the past as well. Alan Browne made his Republic of Ireland debut on February 6, 2017 in a friendly game against Mexico.
Highlighted Team (Middlesbrough):
Middlesbrough is a professional football club that have been balancing between the top two divisions of England’s league system in the modern history. Boro have been playing their home games at the Riverside Stadium since 1995 and their shirt colour is red. The capacity of the Riverside Stadium is 34,742. Middlesbrough impressed in the 2015/2016 Championship campaign and they did really well to secure promotion to the English top flight. Newcastle United and Sunderland are regarded as the club’s main rivals, but there is a rivalry with Leeds United as well.
Middlesbrough made it to the FA Cup final in 1997, but Chelsea proved to be a big catch for the Boro in the title game (0-2). However, the Riverside Stadium outfit did remarkably well to win the League Cup trophy in 2004, with the team beating Bolton Wanderers in the final. George Boateng, Stewart Downing, Juninho Paulista, Gareth Southgate, Jonathan Woodgate, Yakubu Aiyegbeni, Tuncay Sanli and Hamilton Ricard are the star footballers who left their mark at Middlesbrough.
