Our prediction for this Serie A match:
Inter will look to recover from a shocking 1-0 loss to Sassuolo when they take on yet another relegation strugglers Frosinone on Matchday 36. The Nerazzurri failed to impress in their last league match, but they are still seen as favourites to beat the Canarini at Stadio Benito Stirpe. Marcus Thuram, who was sorely missed at Sassuolo, should be recalled to the starting XI as well as Hakan Calhanoglu and Federico Dimarco. Defender Francesco Acerbi remains in the recovery room.
The hosts, on the other hand, are only two points clear of the relegation zone, meaning that Friday’s football game is of big importance for them. However, we do not believe that Inter are going to suffer yet another defeat in the national championship after losing to the Neroverdi. The likes of Stefano Turati, Anthony Oyono, and Sergio Kalaj should miss out with injuries for the home side.
Highlighted Player (Hakan Calhanoglu):
Hakan Calhanoglu is another one in the long line of Turkish footballers who were born in Germany, so it is hardly surprising he came to prominence thanks to his performances in Bundesliga. The attacking midfielder with great vision and very good goalscoring record started his professional career at Karlsruher, scoring impressive 17 goals in 50 league outings to earn a move to Bundesliga side Hamburg.
The spell at Imtech Arena was merely a stepping stone for bigger things as 11 goals in his debut top flight campaign persuaded Bayer Leverkusen to splash nearly €15 million on his services. That proved a very good investment as Calhanoglu continued the rich vein of form, and it is now a matter of time before he joins one of European powerhouses.
The midfield maestro had a bright start to his career in the Turkey national team, scoring 5 goals in first 16 caps, and chances are he will become a leader for Milli Takim in the foreseeable future.
Highlighted Team (Frosinone):
Back in 1912 Frosinone were founded as Unione Sportiva Frusinate and it has to be noted that the colors of the team were originally red and blue. They were later changed to the current yellow and blue and the Canarini have been wearing those kits ever since. Frosinone made their first ever appearance in the Serie A in the 2015/2016 season, but they failed to secure the promotion.
The Canarini finished the season in 19th place in the standings, eight points behind Udinese, who eventually avoided relegation to Serie B. However, two years later Frosinone returned to the Italian top flight as they defeated Palermo 3-2 on aggregate in the play-offs final.
The club play their home games at Stadio Benito Stirpe, the stadium that was opened in 2017. The venue can hold 16,227 spectators and it is owned by the Municipality of Frosinone. The construction cost €20 million.
