Our prediction for this Nations League match:
Buoyed by a hard-fought 1-0 win over Denmark, Spain will look to retain top position in Group 4 when they face Serbia at Estadio Nuevo Arcangel. La Roja are eyeing their third consecutive win in the process and they are seen as hot favourites to win Tuesday’s clash. Fit-again Arsenal midfielder Mikel Merino is pushing for a start, while Barcelona ace Lamine Yamal has joined the likes of Dani Carvajal, Rodri, Dani Olmo, Nico Williams, and Robin Le Normand in the recovery room.
The Eagles, on the other hand, proved their worth in a 2-0 win over Switzerland, but they will have a much bigger fish to fry in Cordoba. As Luis de la Fuente has strength in depth, we predict that Alvaro Morata and Co. are going to pick up all three points from the match. Juventus striker Dusan Vlahovic obviously refuses to play for the Serbia national team, while former Lazio playmaker Sergej Milinkovic-Savic has been omitted. Top scorer Aleksandar Mitrovic is widely expected to lead the line for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Daniel Carvajal):
Dani Carvajal is a Spanish footballer who is a product of Real Madrid’s youth academy. After making 68 appearances for Castilla, he moved to Bayer Leverkusen in 2012 and he was producing outstanding performances with the Bundesliga outfit in the 2012/2013 season.
In the summer of 2013 he returned to Real Madrid as los Blancos exercised their buy-back option and the pacey full back has been playing for the Spanish giants ever since. Carvajal won two Champions League trophies with Real Madrid (2013/2014, 2015/2016), but he has yet to win the La Liga trophy with the capital club. Dani has five caps for Spain U21 and he played his fifth game for the senior team against Macedonia in the Euro 2016 qualifiers.
He made his Spain debut on 4 September, 2014 in a 1-0 loss France in Paris. Speaking of his individual honours, he was named in the Champions League team of the season (2013/2014). Dani Carvajal has a contract with Real Madrid which expires on 30 June, 2020.
Highlighted Team (Serbia):
Serbia have been playing as an independent nation since 2006. The Serbs made it to the 2010 FIFA World Cup finals and despite defeating star-studded Germany in the group stages of the showpiece tournament in South Africa, they eventually failed to book their place in the last 16. The Eagles, though, failed to qualify for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil as they experienced all sorts of problems in their qualifying group.
A number of top-class footballers played for Serbia and former Manchester United defender Nemanja Vidic is regarded as one of the best players in the history of the Serbian national team. Vidic scored two goals in 56 appearances for Serbia and he announced his retirement from the national team on 24 October, 2011.
The Eagles play their home game at Stadion Rajko Mitic and it has to be noted that they defeated Czech Republic 3-1 in their first international game under the name of Serbia. Serbia play their home games in red shirts and red shorts, while the colour of their away kit is white.
