Our prediction for this Premier League match:
St. Mary’s Stadium will host Saturday’s football game between Southampton and Everton, the two bottom-table teams. The Saints are desperate to put an end to their four-game losing run and are likely to leave their hearts on the field this time out. The fact that they defended well in a 1-0 loss to star-studded Man City is surely giving fans a reason for optimism ahead of the visit of Everton. Will Smallbone and Ross Stewart remain on the sidelines with injuries for the home team.
The Toffees, on the other hand, have been showing signs of improvement of late, beating both Crystal Palace and Ipswich Town, while sharing the spoils with Newcastle and Fulham. As Sean Dyche’s men are undefeated in the last five Premier League outings, we predict that they are going to grab something from Saturday’s encounter. The good news for the visitors is that Dwight McNeil has overcome his minor injury.
Highlighted Player (Abdoulaye Doucouré):
French international midfielder Abdoulaye Doucour is a bundle of raw energy and a player who was voted Watford’s Player of the Season during the 2017/18 campaign. A deep-lying midfielder who takes part in play build-up from behind is a defensive asset who took time to blossom and announce himself at the international stage. He first burst to prominence at Ligue 1 side Rennes in 2012 after a year with the club’s B side and went on to play 75 league matches and score 12 goals.
Watford bought Doucoure in 2016 but sent him on loan to Granada, where he took part in 15 league matches. Determined to prove his worth in the Premier League, the Frenchman of Mali descent wasted no time in grabbing a starting spot under both Marco Silva and Javi Garcia, respectively, upon his return from Spain.
The total of 38 matches played along with 8 goals scored made Doucoure one of the most sought-after assets in the summer of 2018 but the player remained at Vicarage Road despite reported interest from Tottenham Hotspur.
Highlighted Team (Southampton):
Southampton are an English football club that have been playing their home games at St Mary's Stadium since 2001. The Saints were based at The Dell in the past and the capacity of Southampton’s new stadium is 32,505. Southampton wear red and white striped shirts and the colour of the team’s away kit is navy and green.
The Saints have yet to win the Premier League trophy, but they did well to clinch the FA Cup title back in 1976, while participating in the final of the prestigious competition in 1900, 1902 and 2003. Southampton outplayed Manchester United in the 1976 FA Cup final and that is probably the club’s greatest victory ever.
The club are well known for their football academy and Real Madrid superstar Gareth Bale is one of the players who began their football carrier at the St. Mary’s Stadium outfit. Southampton’s fiercest rivals are Portsmouth and the two teams square off against each other in the South Coast Derby.
