Our prediction for this Belgium Pro League match:
All eyes will be on Jan Breydel Stadion when Club Brugge and Anderlecht face each other in the Jupiler League derby. Club Brugge are eyeing their fifth consecutive league win, and they are likely to stick to their attacking style of play. The title holders are four points behind surprising league leaders Royale Union SG, and, no doubt, they will give 100% to melt their advantage. Midfielder Ruben Providence remains in the recovery room, but he should be the only absentee in the home team.
The capital club, on the other hand, defeated St. Truiden 2-0 in their last league match to extend their winning run to four games. Anderlecht aim to give fans yet another reason for celebration, and given Club Brugge’s attacking potential, we believe that punters from all around the globe can find value in betting on over 2.5 goals. Killian Sardella remains in the recovery room, while all Theo Leoni, Lucas Lissens, and Hannes Delcroix are major doubts.
Highlighted Player (Simon Mignolet):
Simon Luc Hildebert Mignolet is a Belgium goalkeeper born on 6 March 1988 in Sint-Truiden. He began his career in a club from his hometown, making 100 league appearances for Sint-Truidense before moving to Sunderland in 2010.
Mignolet would go on to spent next four years at the Stadium of Light, making 90 Premier League appearances. As one of world’s most talented goalkeepers, the Belgium international signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2013, and he has since been the club’s first choice goalkeeper. Performing admirably most of the time, but also committing cheap mistakes at times, Mignolet has yet to win over the Liverpool fans, but remains highly regarded in his native country.
The talented shot-stopper has been a member of the Belgium national team since 2011, earning over 20 caps for the Red Devils, but he has been playing second fiddle to Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois over the last few years.
Highlighted Team (Anderlecht):
Founded on 27 May, 1908, Anderlecht are considered one of the oldest clubs in Belgium. The Paars-wit are the dominant force in the Belgian Pro League and in 2014 they won their 33rd domestic trophy. Anderlecht did remarkably well to win the UEFA Super Cup title in 1983, with the team defeating Benfica in the final of the competition.
The Belgian outfit recorded a 1-0 over the Eagles in the first leg, with the two teams playing out a 1-1 draw in the return leg. Anderlecht play their home games at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium, the venue that was opened in 1917. The stadium was renovated in 1983 and current capacity of Anderlecht’s home ground is 28 063.
The Paars-wit have long-standing rivalries with the likes of Standard Liege and Club Brugge, whilst FC Brussels were considered the club’s bitter opponents in the past. The likes of Besnik Hasi, Lucas Biglia, Filip De Wilde and Romelu Lukaku are some of Anderlecht’s notable players.
