Our prediction for this Belgium Pro League match:
Club Brugge will look to build on a hard-fought 3-2 win over Seraing when they take on Waregem in yet another home fixture. The reigning champions aim to melt Royale Union SG’s advantage in the standings, and they are likely to go all guns blazing at Waregem. Since head coach Philippe Clement can count on key players for Sunday’s clash, home win should be considered.
The visitors, on the other hand, suffered a 3-2 loss to Anderlecht in their last league match, and seeing that they struggle in games against title-chasing teams, we do not believe that Francky Dury’s troops are capable of spoiling Club Brugge’s party at Jan Breydel Stadion. Club Brugge emerged triumphant in each of the previous four meetings between the two teams in all competitions, which is yet another reason why we are tempted to put our money on the title holders.
Highlighted Player (Simon Mignolet):
Simon Luc Hildebert Mignolet is a Belgium goalkeeper born on 6 March 1988 in Sint-Truiden. He began his career in a club from his hometown, making 100 league appearances for Sint-Truidense before moving to Sunderland in 2010.
Mignolet would go on to spent next four years at the Stadium of Light, making 90 Premier League appearances. As one of world’s most talented goalkeepers, the Belgium international signed for Liverpool in the summer of 2013, and he has since been the club’s first choice goalkeeper. Performing admirably most of the time, but also committing cheap mistakes at times, Mignolet has yet to win over the Liverpool fans, but remains highly regarded in his native country.
The talented shot-stopper has been a member of the Belgium national team since 2011, earning over 20 caps for the Red Devils, but he has been playing second fiddle to Chelsea star Thibaut Courtois over the last few years.
Highlighted Team (Waregem):
Over the years Zulte Waregem have established themselves as a top-table side in Belgian Super League. The Essevee are a product of a partnership between Zulte and Waregem and it has to be noted that Zulte Sportief were founded back in 1950.
Zulte Waregem impressed in the 2012/2013 Belgian Super League campaign, with the team finishing the process in second place in the standings, only four points behind champions Anderlecht. As a result, the Essevee booked their place in the Europa League group stages, but despite recording victories over the likes of Maribor and Wigan Athletic in Group D the Belgian side eventually failed to advance to the knockout stages of the European competition.
Zulte Waregem, who welcome their rivals at Regenboogstadion, will play in the group stages of the Europa League in the 2017/2018 season. Zulte Waregem, who won the Belgian Cup in the 2016/2017 season, will face the likes of Nice, Lazio and Vitesse in Group K.
