Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
All eyes will be on BayArena when Bayer Leverkusen and Leipzig lock horns in the Bundesliga derby on Saturday afternoon. The reigning champions survived Borussia M’gladbach in their opener, with Florian Wirtz sealing the triumph late in the stoppage time and they are seen as favourites to win the round 2 clash as well. Summer signing Martin Terrier is ready for his full Bundesliga debut, while midfielder Exequiel Palacios remain on the sidelines with a meniscus problem.
The Red Bulls, on the other hand, managed to break the deadlock in the season opener against Bochum, with substitute Antonio Nusa scoring the only goal of the match. Leipzig, though, will have a much bigger fish to fry in Leverkusen and given three-game losing run in meetings with Xabi Alonso’s troops, home win should be considered. Dani Olmo is no longer part of the team after returning to his boyhood club Barcelona, while important defender Willi Orban misses out through suspension.
Highlighted Player (Alex Grimaldo):
Alex Grimaldo is a Spanish footballer who plays for Portuguese side Benfica as a left back. Born in Valencia on September 20, 1995, Grimaldo started his youth career at his hometown club FC Valencia, but in 2008 Barcelona scouts brought him to Camp Nou.
The 171-cm-tall footballer scored six goals in 92 appearances for Barca B before joining Primeira Liga club Benfica in the winter of 2015. Alex Grimaldo made his debut with the Eagles on January 26, 2016 in a 6-1 win at Moreirense in the Taca da Liga. Speaking of his Primeira Liga debut, Grimaldo played his first league game for Benfica on February 29, 2016 in a 2-0 win over Uniao Leiria.
The Benfica defender has two caps for Spain U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of producing fine performances as a left winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Leipzig):
Leipzig are a professional football club founded in 2009. Die Bullen (The Bulls) were unbeaten in the 2012/2013 Regionalliga Nordost and, as a result, they secured promotion to the 3. Liga. After finishing the 2013/2014 as 3rd. Liga campaign in second place in the standings, Leipzig were promoted to the 2. Bundesliga and they competed in the German second tier for two seasons.
Despite suffering a loss to Karlsruher on the last day of the 2015/2016 round in the 2. Bundesliga campaign, die Bullen secured promotion to the Bundesliga for the first time ever. Leipzig play their home games at Red Bull Arena (42,959) and it has to be noted that the stadium was opened in 1954.
Die Bullen wear white shirts and red shorts while their away kit is blue and yellow. Ralph Hasenhuttl was appointed as the team’s manager at the end of the 2015/2016 season and you should know that the likes of Ralf Rangnick, Achim Beierlorzer, Alexander Zorniger, Peter Pacult, Tomas Oral and Tino Vogel were in charge of the team in the past as well.
