Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Buoyed by a splendid 5-0 win over Bochum, Bayern Munich will look to give fans yet another reason to celebrate when they face Union Berlin in the Bundesliga round 9. The mighty Bavarians are determined to regain the trophy, but head coach Vincent Kompany must warn his men against complacency. Kompany rested several first-team regulars in the DFB Pokal clash with Mainz, but the Belgian tactician is going to field the best possible side against Union Berlin. The likes of Aleksandar Pavlovic, Sacha Boey, Josip Stanisic, and Hiroki Ito miss out with injuries for the home team.
The capital club, on the other hand, came from behind to share the spoils with Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, but they will have a tougher task at Allianz Arena. Given Union Berlin’s negative record at the venue, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the league leaders. The likes of Josip Juranovic, Yannic Stein, Ivan Prtajin, and Lucas Tousart miss out with injuries for the away team.
Highlighted Player (Harry Kane):
Widely regarded as one of England’s best strikers at the moment, Harry Kane enjoyed a meteoric rise at Tottenham Hotspur, scoring 21 Premier League goals during the 2014/2015 campaign to be voted PFA Young Player of the Year.
The highly rated striker went on to surpass that achievement the following season as he helped Tottenham Hotspur mount a serious title challenge for the first time in club’s recent history and he made seamless transition to international football. Kane scored four goals in his first ten appearances for England to prove he was here to stay and at the same time established himself as a first choice striker in Roy Hodgson’s squad ahead of the Euro 2016 finals.
Kane is a modern striker, who is extremely dangerous in the opposition box, but it was some outstanding goals from distance as well as link-up play with teammates that earned him an excellent reputation in world football. Kane is expected to lead both Tottenham and England in years to come, that is if he can resist the lure of top European clubs that continue to cast admiring glances his way.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
