Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
RheinEnergieStadion will host Sunday’s football game between Koln and Union Berlin, the two teams who were beaten by Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munchen respectively at the weekend. The Billy Goats produce much better showings at home than on the travels, with the team eyeing their fourth home win of the process. Niklas Hauptmann remains on the sidelines through illness, while both Ellyes Shkiri and Jannes-Killian Horn are out of contention with injuries.
The capital club, on the other hand, experienced all sorts of problems at the back in the 5-2 loss to FCB, which is probably the main reason why we are going to put our money on Koln this time out. Important attacker Max Kruse has yet to recover from a hip injury, while defender Rick Van Drongelen has been tested positive for coronavirus, speaking of the away team.
Highlighted Player (Jonas Hector):
Jonas Hector is a product of Koln’s youth school. The left back was born on 27 May, 1990 in Saarbrucken and he began his youth career at SV Auersmacher. In 2010 he joined FC Koln and he made 63 league appearances for the reserve team between 2010 and 2013. Ever since he made his debut for the senior team on 27 August, 2012 he has been playing regularly for the Billy Goats and he certainly helped the team return to Bundesliga at the end of the 2013/2014 campaign.
Jonas Hector made his Germany debut on 14 November, 2014 in a 4-0 win over Gibraltar. The left-footed defender scored his first goal for the German national team on 29 March, 2016 in a 4-1 victory over Italy in Munich.
Hector represented his homeland at the 2016 European Championship finals in France and he scored the winner from the penalty spot in the quarter-final against Italy. Hector is capable of playing as a midfielder as well.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
