Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Leipzig will look to extend their winning run when they host Union Berlin in the Bundesliga on Saturday. After convincing victories over Bochum and reigning champions Bayer Leverkusen, the Red Bulls have momentum on their side. Despite the absence of Willi Orban, who is suspended, and injuries to key players like Amadou Haidara, Xaver Schlager, and Assan Ouedraogo, Leipzig’s depth should help them stay in the title race.
Union Berlin, on the other hand, have been hampered by injuries to Yannic Stein, Josip Juranovic, and Kevin Volland, limiting their options for this tough away fixture. Although Union have been solid defensively this season, their lack of offensive threat, coupled with Leipzig's home advantage, could be decisive. Leipzig’s recent form, combined with the support of the Red Bull Arena faithful, gives them a significant edge. Expect Marco Rose's men to build on their confidence and secure a home win against a weakened Union side.
Highlighted Player (Yussuf Poulsen):
Yussuf Poulsen is a Danish footballer who started his youth career at BK Skjold. At the age of 14 he joined Lyngby and he made his debut for the first team on 4 December, 2011. He came as a substitute in a match against Horsens after 84 minutes, substituting Mathias Tauber. However, he made no more than five league appearances for Lyngby in the 2011/2012 season.
Despite the fact that Lyngby dropped to Denmark 1st Division, Poulsen did not leave the club in the summer transfer window and it has to be noted that he made 30 appearances for the Vikings in the 2012/2013 campaign. On 4 July, 2013 he signed a deal with Leipzig and he has been playing for the German outfit ever since.
The 193-cm-tall attacker is capable of playing as both right and left winger. Poulsen’s father is Tanzanian, but he decided to represent the Danish national team. He made his debut for the senior team against Albania on 11 October, 2014. Poulsen scored his first ever goal for Denmark in a 2-0 win over Serbia on June 13, 2015.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
