Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Stadion An der Alten Forsterei will be packed when Union Berlin and Bayer Leverkusen face each other in the Bundesliga round 28. The capital club have been producing fine displays in the second half of the season and, as a result, they are on the right track to secure the top flight survival. Experienced attacker Kevin Volland is pushing for a start after coming as a substitute in a goalless draw with Eintracht Frankfurt at the weekend, while all Jerome Roussillon, Jakob Busk, Janik Haberer remain in the recovery room.
The league leaders, on the other hand, are on the right track to clinch their first-ever Bundesliga trophy. Bayer Leverkusen showed character in a come-from-behind win over Hoffenheim and seeing that Xabi Alonso can count on key players for Saturday’s encounter, we are tempted to bet on the visiting side. As before, a man to watch in the away team will be talented midfielder Florian Wirtz.
Highlighted Player (Alex Grimaldo):
Alex Grimaldo is a Spanish footballer who plays for Portuguese side Benfica as a left back. Born in Valencia on September 20, 1995, Grimaldo started his youth career at his hometown club FC Valencia, but in 2008 Barcelona scouts brought him to Camp Nou.
The 171-cm-tall footballer scored six goals in 92 appearances for Barca B before joining Primeira Liga club Benfica in the winter of 2015. Alex Grimaldo made his debut with the Eagles on January 26, 2016 in a 6-1 win at Moreirense in the Taca da Liga. Speaking of his Primeira Liga debut, Grimaldo played his first league game for Benfica on February 29, 2016 in a 2-0 win over Uniao Leiria.
The Benfica defender has two caps for Spain U21 team, but he has yet to make his debut with the senior team. His main position is left-back, but he is capable of producing fine performances as a left winger as well.
Highlighted Team (Union Berlin):
Union Berlin are a German football club originally founded back in 1906. Die Eisernen play home games at Stadion An der Alten Forsterei which can hold up to 22,012 spectators. Union Berlin’s home kit is red, with the team wearing white shirts and white shorts on the travels.
Union Berlin finished the 1923 domestic campaign as runners-up, with the team suffering a 3-0 loss to Hamburger SV in the title game. Speaking of the club’s biggest success in the German Cup, die Eisernen made it to the final of the competition in the 2000/2001 season. Schalke, though, proved to be a big catch for Union Berlin in the decider, with Jorg Bohme scoring a brace for die Knappen (2-0).
Union Berlin will face their local rivals Hertha in the 2019/2020 Bundesliga season as they secured promotion to the German top flight, but Hansa Rostock are considered the club’s main rivals.
