Our prediction for this Bundesliga match:
Werder Bremen will look to build on a 2-0 win over Bochum when they welcome Augsburg to their Weserstadion on Matchday 6. Die Werderaner quickly bounced back from a 4-3 loss to Eintracht Frankfurt, and it should come as no surprise the reputable bookies see them as favourites to beat the Bavarians on home soil. A man to watch in the home team will be Niclas Fullkrug, who scored a brace at the weekend, while all Lee Buchanan, Leonardo Bittencourt, Dikeni Salifou, and Jean-Manuel Mbom remain in the recovery room.
Augsburg, on the other hand, are one of the main candidates for relegation, and given their three-game losing run in the Bundesliga, home win should definitely be considered. To make things even worse for the Bavarian outfit, their injury list is almost full, including the likes of Maier, Iago, Winther, Oxford, and Strobl missing out with injuries.
Highlighted Player (Alfred Finnbogason):
Born in Grindavik in 1989, Alfred Finnbogason is one of the most prolific strikers in the history of Icelandic football, as the well-travelled forward has been scoring goals for fun throughout his career. His talent was first spotted at Breidablik, where two very successful campaign helped him move to Lokeren, where he did not spent a lot of time and soon signed for Helsingborgs.
The return of 12 goals in 17 league outings for the Swedish giants soon secured him a move to Heerenveen, where he would go on to play the best football of his career, scoring remarkable 53 goals in 65 Eredivisie matches. Finnbogason somewhat struggled during spells with Real Sociedad and Olympiakos, but managed to kick-start his career at Augsburg, just in time to help Iceland on their first ever European championship appearance.
The prolific striker has been a member of the country’s national team since 2010, making over 30 appearances and scoring quite a few goals despite the fact that he was not always considered a first team regular.
Highlighted Team (Augsburg):
Augsburg are a German football club founded in Augsburg, Bavaria back in 1907. Die Fuggerstadter play in German Bundesliga and with 12,200 members they are regarded as the largest football club in Bavaria. Augsburg wear white shirts and they host their rivals at WWK ARENA.
The capacity of the stadium is 30,660 and it has been the home of Augsburg since 2009. Augsburg won the Schwaben Cup 13 times and it has to be noted that they were promoted to the Bundesliga for the first time in 2011.
The club qualified for the Europa League 2015/2016 group stages and thanks to a 3-1 win over Partizan in Belgrade they booked their place in the last 32. However, Liverpool proved to be a big catch for the German outfit in the Europa League knockout stages.
Die Fuggerstadter’s main rivals are TSV 1860 Munich and there have always been fireworks when the two teams take on each other.
