Our prediction for this Championship match:
Cardiff City and Blackburn Rovers face each other at Cardiff City Stadium in what is expected to be a close Championship encounter. The Bluebirds did well to eliminate Preston in the FA Cup round 3 at the weekend, but they are on a four-game winless run in the English second tier. January signing Cody Drameh is likely to make his Cardiff City debut against Blackburn.
The Riversiders, on the other hand, aim to make amends for the FA Cup loss to Wigan Athletic. Blackburn have been impressive in the Championship of late, and, as a result, a win over Cardiff should see them climb to automatic promotion places. Since both sides are likely to go for a win in Saturday’s clash, we believe that there is a big value in betting on both teams to score. New signing James Brown is widely expected to make his Blackburn debut against the Bluebirds.
Highlighted Player (Leandro Bacuna):
Despite being born in Netherlands Leandro Bacuna decided to represent Curacao on international stage. The powerful midfielder, who parents are of Curacaoan descent, is a product of Groningen youth school and it has to be noted that he scored 14 goals in 109 appearances for the first team.
After ending his spell with Groningen, Leandro Bacuna joined Aston Villa in 2013 and he has been playing for the Villa Park outfit ever since. The Curacao international scored his first Premier League goal in September, 2013 against Manchester City, but seeing that Aston Villa coaches often used him as a full back he was not impressive in front of goal in previous seasons.
Leandro Bacuna was born in Groningen on August 21, 1991 and it has to be noted that he received his first call-up for the Curacao national football team 25 years later, in March 2016. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in San Salvador, with Bacuna picking up a yellow card in the 54th minute of the game.
Highlighted Team (Blackburn Rovers):
Blackburn Rovers have been trying to return to the Premier League ever since they dropped to the Championship in 2012. The Riversiders compete in the English second tier and they play their home games at Ewood Park. Blackburn were founded back in 1875 and they are one of the founding members of the Football League (1888).
Burnley are considered Blackburn’s main rivals and the two teams square off against each other in the East Lancashire derby. It has to be noted that Blackburn Burnley 7-1 in their first ever meeting in the East Lancashire Derby on 3 November, 1888. The Riversiders have won three First Division (Premier League) trophies (1911/1912, 1913/1914, 1994/1995).
Blackburn Rovers have clinched six FA Cup titles as well. Speaking of the club’s European success, the Riversiders won the UEFA Intertoto Cup in 2007. The colour of Blackburn’s home kit is blue and white.
