Our prediction for this Championship match:
Peterborough United will look to escape the relegation zone when they take on Cardiff City on Matchday 31. The Posh were beaten by Sheffield United (0-2) in their last league match, with the team remaining in bottom three in the standings. Peterborough United are desperate to give fans something to cheer about, but the bookies see them as underdogs in Wednesday’s football match.
Both Dan Butler and Joel Randall are sidelined with injuries, but they should be the only absentees in the away team. The Bluebirds, on the other hand, aim to build on back-to-back wins over Nottingham Forest and Barnsley. Cardiff City have been showing signs of improvement of late, and given Cardiff City’s shaky defence, we believe that home win should be considered. Sean Morrison misses out with injury for the home team, with Rubin Colwill pushing for a start.
Highlighted Player (Leandro Bacuna):
Despite being born in Netherlands Leandro Bacuna decided to represent Curacao on international stage. The powerful midfielder, who parents are of Curacaoan descent, is a product of Groningen youth school and it has to be noted that he scored 14 goals in 109 appearances for the first team.
After ending his spell with Groningen, Leandro Bacuna joined Aston Villa in 2013 and he has been playing for the Villa Park outfit ever since. The Curacao international scored his first Premier League goal in September, 2013 against Manchester City, but seeing that Aston Villa coaches often used him as a full back he was not impressive in front of goal in previous seasons.
Leandro Bacuna was born in Groningen on August 21, 1991 and it has to be noted that he received his first call-up for the Curacao national football team 25 years later, in March 2016. The two teams played out a 1-1 draw in San Salvador, with Bacuna picking up a yellow card in the 54th minute of the game.
Highlighted Team (Peterborough):
Founded in 1934, Peterborough United are a professional club that competes in the League One. The Posh play their home games at London Road Stadium, the venue with the capacity of 15,314. Peterborough’s home colour is blue, whilst the colour of their away kit is blue. The Posh have the third kit as well where yellow and black are the dominant colours.
Peterborough United’s biggest success came in the 1964/1965 when the club booked their place in the FA Cup quarter-finals. Chelsea, though, proved to be a big catch for the Posh, beating them 5-1 in London. It has to be noted that Peterborough United made it to the Football League Cup semis in the 1965/1966 season, with the team losing to WBA in the two-legged tie.
The likes of Cambridge United and Northampton Town are considered the club’s main rivals. The Posh have built a rivalry with Huddersfield Town, with fans seeing MK Dons as rivals as well.
