Our prediction for this Championship match:
Huddersfield Town will be aiming to make amends for a heavy 5-1 loss to Fulham when they take on Preston at Kirklees Stadium on Tuesday evening. The Terriers are determined to give fans some cheer following the embarrassing defeat, and they are likely to fight tooth and nail in the midweek clash. Keep in mind, though, that both Aarons and Rowe are out of contention through injuries for the home team.
The Lilywhites, on the other hand, aim to bounce back from back-to-back losses to Hull City and Reading. Preston are stuck at the bottom of the table, and seeing that they will go for a win in Tuesday’s clash as well, both teams to score betting option should be considered. Rudd has joined Bron and Olosunde in the recovery room, while Bayliss has been tested positive for coronavirus. The 22-year-old midfielder is rated doubtful for the Kirkless Stadium showdown.
Highlighted Player (Richard Stearman):
Born in Wolverhampton, England on August 19, 1987 Richard Stearman is a defender who represented the Three Lions at youth level. Stearman has four caps for England U21 team and he played nine games for the under-17 squad as well.
The 191-cm-tall footballer is a product of Leicester City football academy and he made his first-team debut with the club on October 30, 2004 in a goalless draw with Cardiff City. The English defender scored five goals in 211 appearances in the league for the Foxes before joining Wolverhampton in the summer of 2008.
He signed a four-year deal with the Wolves and he made his debut for the club on August 9, 2008 in a 2-2 draw with Plymouth. From 2015 to 2017 he played for Fulham and at the end of the 2016/2017 Championship campaign he joined Sheffield United. Richard Sterman’s main position is centre-back, but he is used as a right-back as well.
Highlighted Team (Preston):
Preston North End or Preston were founded in 1880. The Lilywhites or the Invincibles play their home games at Deepdale, the stadium that was built in 1875 and opened three years later.
In 1889 Preston won their first FA Cup trophy and they did well to beat Huddersfield Town in the final of the 1938 FA Cup final. However, the club’s biggest success came in 1889 and 1890 when they won back-to-back domestic trophies (First Division).
Preston have yet to win the League Cup title, but they were runners-up in 1888, 1922, 1937, 1954, 1964. Preston’s main rivals are Blackpool and the two teams square off against each other in the West Lancashire derby. In their first ever meeting in the West Lancashire derby (1901) Preston recorded a 4-1 win over Blackpool.
Burnley and Blackburn Rovers are considered Preston’s big rivals as well. The colour of Preston’s shirts is white and they wear dark blue shorts.
