Our prediction for this Championship match:
Following a 2-1 loss to Watford, Middlesbrough will be aiming to return to winning ways when they face Bristol City on Matchday 10. The Boro have yet to find their best form, but a win over Bristol City will see them move closer to the playoffs berth. Australia forward Riley McGree is likely to start off the bench following his participation in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches against China and Japan, while the likes of Dael Fry, Darragh Lenihan, Jonathan Howson, Tom Smith, and Alex Bangura remain on the sidelined with injuries.
The Robins, on the other hand, have drawn each of their last three league matches and, no doubt, they would be happy with one point from Saturday’s clash as well. Bristol City, though, have been struggling on the travels this term, losing two and drawing two, which is probably the main reason why home win should be considered. All Sam Bell, Ayman Benarous, Robert Dickie, and Rob Atkinson are injured for the visiting team.
Highlighted Player (Paddy McNair):
Following in the footsteps of his compatriot Jonny Evans, Paddy McNair joined the Manchester United academy in 2011 and he was surprisingly handed first team debut by Louis van Gaal at the start of the 2014/2015 season.
Despite his fragile age, the talented central defender has been putting in some very mature performances ever since, and everything suggests he could go on to become an important player at Old Trafford in years to come. After representing a number of youth sides, McNair made his first appearance for the Northern Ireland senior national team in a March 2015 friendly vs Scotland, before making another three outings as his side secured their place at the Euro 2016 finals.
Northern Ireland coach Michael O’Neill surprisingly played McNair in holding midfield in the March 2016 friendly vs Wales. After the youngster impressed in the middle of the park, O’Neill went on to suggest that the Manchester United starlet may be used in midfield rather than defence in years to come in the national team.
Highlighted Team (Bristol City):
Bristol City are one of the two famous clubs from the city of Bristol. Formed in 1894 the Robins mostly participated in English lower leagues and they have never played in the Premier League. Bristol City’s bitterest rivals are Bristol Rovers and it has to be noted that two teams first met in 1897. Bristol City have outplayed their local rivals on 43 occasions in the Bristol Derby.
Cardiff City are regarded as Bristol City’s bitter rivals as well. The Robins play their home games at Ashton Gate, the stadium that was opened in 1887. Bristol City were semi-finalists of the League Cup two times (1970/1971, 1988/1989), with the team making it to the FA Cup final in 1909.
The Robins faced Manchester United in the title game, but they failed to upset the English giants in the Crystal Palace clash. It is well known that Bristol City footballers wear red shirts and blue shorts.
